Those versions might stem from Thai/Malay/Phillipines versions of Ramayanam. In those Vali and Sugreeva are Ahalya's children through Indra and Surya and Ahalya's daughter Anjana (or Anjani) reveals this to Gautama. Enraged, Gautama cursed Vali and Sugreeva to become vanaras while Ahalya curses Anjana. Weird storyline if you ask me.

The earliest story of Rikshraj that I read was him being a vanara by birth, encounters a magic pond, looks at his reflection and thinks there's an opponent inside the pond, jumps in and comes out as a female vanara. Enamored by her beauty Indra and Surya sired Vali and Sugreeva. One of these stories say that their desire overflowed and fell on the female vanara's hair and neck, the children thus born/created were called 'Vaali/Baali' and 'Sugreeva'.

As for Hanuman, my guess is that he lost interest in worldly stuff after getting cursed.
