That movie was disgusting. The constipation talk and Irfan with his poopasutra positions guide . Ewww. It ruined the crush I had on him. Deepika looked quite pretty in it though.

Also the way he used to call that toilet seat SINGHAASAN 🤣
European cinema' content driven films were a novelty for multiplexes audience back than, post covid such cinema is shifted to OTT platform.
Highly doubt it will work in current scenario.
I'm one of those with no illusions about what certain movies would do today... Piku would be as relevant today as some other content driven movies - choosing the OTT option as theatres try to make money disproportionate to what people would like to spend for this kind of movies...

Nobel laureate Malala mentioned this movie back in the day😂
Malala enjoyed watching Deepika Padukone-Irrfan Khan starrer Piku: "When I watched Piku. The toilet humour was just too much. I'm laughing even thinking about it."
I see your point about the post-Covid shift towards home viewing, but I’d slightly disagree. A healthy cinematic culture allows for all kinds of movies to co-exist—big event films and smaller, content-driven ones like Piku. The problem isn’t just audience preference but also how theaters prioritize spectacle-heavy films, making it harder for mid-budget movies to thrive.
Also, there's an interesting generational shift at play. Millennials grew up watching a mix of everything—mass entertainers, indie gems, experimental films—so we’re more open to different kinds of cinema. Gen Z, on the other hand, seems more fragmented in their viewing habits, often leaning towards hype-driven, algorithm-fed content. That might explain why certain movies don’t find the same audience in theaters today.
Grosssßss. Well there were singhaasans with a toilet attached to it and the king would 'go' in the middle of the proceedings. I guess that's slightly better than people defecating all over the stairs of the Palace of Versailles.
