Ok my here’s my review of the last episode. Warning, it’s long so feel free to skip it.
So there were definitely a few things that didn’t work for me. I wanted Bilal and Sadaf’s conversation to be longer. It was so rushed. Now that they were on the same page, I wanted Sadaf to tell him that she always had feelings for him. I also wanted a bit more of a realization on her part about how wrong she was in her concept of love. It was toxic. She had a lot of problematic dialogue that required more clarification. The sound of Wahaj’s voice was messed up in the balcony scene so I wished they fixed that especially since it was such a pivotal scene.
I also wondered why Zaviyar and Sadaf’s mom weren’t shown at the Nikkah. I know I’m the first to complain about extra screen time for the supporting cast and now that they focussed on the leads, I’m still complaining 🤣 Still I wanted to see their reactions. We did get Zaviyar skedaddling out of there when he sensed something will happen between Bilal and Sadaf so I guess we got that. I thought after all the Aik baar main drunk tha….Mirza Saab ne kaha….it would have been nice to see them acknowledge him. I suppose we had Diwan’s approval…and btw, Bilal did not shy away from romancing his wife in front of him but Diwan has seen him with escorts so I guess it’s all good.
Also I’m not sure if I really understand Humsha or what is happening with her but I was done with her so I’m okay with them not getting into it further. I could have done without the graphic vomiting scene.
The parts I liked:
I liked that Bilal was bolder and more assertive when he came to Sadaf’s house, he had become too passive in asking for what he wants. It’s what was needed from him. Ultimately though it was Sadaf that walked completely away from Ammar with no animosity left towards him to start a life with Bilal. I liked the scene where Sadaf gave him the shawl and their expressions and the way Bilal held it close to him.
The scene outside the hospital where he grabs Sadaf’s hand and the expressions they exchanged made so much sense now. I couldn’t figure it out from the OST.
I know a lot of the post marriage scenes were probably fan service but I needed them for more than just enjoying their onscreen romance. Sadaf has always been a bit rash and indecisive so I needed to see that relationship thrive beyond just the confession. The Nikkah and namaz scene was done so well and again the show started off showing Bilal engaging in drinking and with escorts so this act of worship showed that he has truly transformed. He had dropped the bad habits before but still relapsed and we never saw him talk about religion. It felt like now that he got what he dreamed of, it reinstilled his faith in god. He started that journey with Sadaf by his side. All the scenes served some purpose to me. The pregnancy representing the start of his own family, something he always craved. The scene where Sadaf throws him in the pool when he didn’t acknowledge her, also showed me that Sadaf still has certain characteristics that although flawed are a part of her and something that Bilal has wholeheartedly accepted. The bonfire scene where they are looking at each other with teary eyes was effective. They were so grateful to have one another. Bilal always wanted that sense of belonging and Sadaf needed somewhere where she felt safe. Her relationship with Ammar was very toxic and it brought out the toxicity in her as well. Bilal and Sadaf seem to bring out the best in one another.
All in all, the last episode was too good for the rest of the show. Although I liked it, it really didn’t mesh with the rest of the show. The pacing, the mood was all different. How I wish this was the pacing of the show.
If they just included the beginning, cut the middle to like 2 episode, cut all the zeher crap, then we might have had something. So basically 10 episodes max
