Because he knew Abhira would never really give up on their relationship without taking such a big step. And he also knows that he could never choose her over his mother. So in a way he lets her go, so that she can actually move on from him

Here also there is a little irony.. After Ab got pregnant, Vidya tried to warm up with Ab and Ar. And Ar straightaway said if she still doesnt get his or his wife's perspectives then he is happy with his child not getting its grandmother's blessings.. So there was also a track in this show where he was not a mother worshipper..

But I have to give it to Armaan. That man did a much better job of actually making Abhira move on from their relationship than whatever Abhira was doing till the accident. I hate him for it, but he knew just where to hit where it hurts the most

issiliye to iss gadhe se nafrat nahi hoti... Gussa dila ke khud victim banjata hai.. .main ne aise bete dekhe hai jo Maa ko partners se upar rakhte hai chahe Maa kitne bhi galat lage...
