2) Gayathri so far doesn't know that Tejas had duped Manasi's father. Her conversation with Manasi's Maami gave her some hint but not the complete truth. Sooner or later Gayathri will get to know and to use it to her advantage she may reveal it to Manasi before Tejas is able to confess (it anyway doesn't seem like he wants to confess unless a situation compells him to) - Predictable yes but this is my Speculation #2
(Speculation #3 - the above two scenes were inculcated to lay the foundation for how Manasi's reaction on learning the truth is going to be)
I don't expect Tejas to survive Manasi's wrath when she learns that what he was upto - may her anger be good enough to knock some sense into Tejas 



And why should it be upto Manasi to take a stand for her. Gita should rather disown a family where she is being mistreated in such a manner.
