Poll # 8: Rafi - Random actors/ Background songs

Hello everyone!

As you all know, Dec 24, will mark the 100th birth anniversary of inarguably the most influential and revered singer in the Hindi Film Industry: Mohammed Rafi.

These polls are in his memory and for us to remember the legacy of songs he left us.

There will be 10 polls with 10 songs each totaling a 100 songs.

There will then be a 11th poll with the winners of each of these polls to decide the overall winner.

Poll # 8 : Rafi's songs filmed on lesser known actors/ Background song

Not just leading men, but Rafi also sang for a lot of character actors/ cameo artists and rendered several background songs. I have chosen 5 each for this poll.

I'm aware these are just skimming the surface of Rafi's vast repertoire, but I had to limit it to 10 so some of them are the popular songs, some are my choices and some are songs that I think most people enjoy. If you don't find your favorite here, please don't be disappointed. It's impossible to make polls with such limited choices for Rafi. But do vote for one in the list and share your favorite in the thread.

Along with the polls, I have wanted to do my own tribute to the man, so I have sung the first few lines (mukhda) of each of these songs and will be posting them below each poll.

My apologies if the recording quality is not great - I don't own any fancy equipment and my voice was faltering a bit too off late. But it's earnest, heartfelt and my humble appreciation for a singer I admire greatly.

This was really tough, coz I didn't recognize any of those songs. I watched Dosti movie, but I didn't remember the song.

I went for Jahan Daal Daal because its meaningfull lyrics and beautifull music.

There are so many wonderful songs in Dosti - I should've probably picked Chahoonga main tujhe, or Koi jab raah na paye... but this one is my favorite so went for this one! I also made a rule for myself that I'd only pick one song per movie per poll so I couldn't add more from Dosti

Yes. I noticed that you pick only one song from a movie in one poll.

Do you know Dosti is loved by many Arabs, it's aired on MBC Bollywood channel here. Although it starred unknown actors, but its story and music were extraordinary.
