Karan met ACP Preeta Arora at the police station.

Karan:ACP Preeta...my mother's diamond necklace is missing.I have come here to file a complaint.

Preeta:Don't worry Karan.I will catch the thief.

She said in her mind:I know who the thief is.That chidail Nidhi.Who else?After she came only this happened.

Preeta came to the Luthra mansion with the police constables.

Preeta:As a part of the investigation,I need to check the bags of all the people here.

Karan:Sure.You can check.

Preeta:Thank you for the co-operation.

Karan called all the servants there.The police constables checked the bags and found nothing.

Karan's mother Rakhi said:ur servants are loyal.Nobody will steal our belongings.

Preeta:They are loyal.But not everyone can be loyal.So I need to check the room of the guest Nidhi.Because Karan and Kareenaji won't steal his own house's precious things.So we can only suspect the guest.

All were shocked.

Nidhi:How dare you suspect me?I am Karan's friend.

Karan:Yes.Nidhi cannot steal anything.

Karan's aunt Kareena:We trust Nidhi.

Preeta:If you want me to complete the investigation,please let me check her room too.

Nidhi was sweating.

Kareena:Ok then check her room.

Nidhi was shocked.

Nidhi:Kareena bua..you don't trust me?

Kareena:I do trust you Nidhi.That's why I allowed them to check your room.So that they will be confirmed with the fact that you are innocent.

Nidhi was tensed.

With a smirk,Preeta went to Nidhi's room with the constables.

After checking they found the necklace there.All were shocked.

Preeta:Nidhi is the thief.

All were shocked.

Rakhi:Nidhi?

Nidhi started yelling:One of the servants must have kept it here to trap me.

Preeta:Miss Nidhi...we will talk about it in the station.

Nidhi:Karan...Kareena bua...please tell them that I have not stolen anything.

Karan was numb and confused.

Kareena:Calm down Nidhi.I will save you.ACP Preeta...this is not done.

Preeta:We are police cops.We can't ignore such a big proof and avoid arrest.Sorry.

They handcuffed Nidhi and took her away.

Kareena:Karan...why did'nt you react when your friend got arrested?

Karan:ACP Preeta is a brilliant police officer who has solved many cases.She can't be wrong here.

Kareena was shocked:Means you don't trust your friend?

Karan was upset.

Kareena went to the police station to meet Nidhi.Preeta was near them.

Nidhi:Preeta Arora,you trapped me.

Kareena:How can you accuse Nidhi like this?

Preeta smiled.

Preeta:Kareena bua...we did our investigation and realized why Nidhi did this.Why did Karan allow Nidhi to stay in his house?You know that?

Kareena was silent.

Preeta:Because Nidhi is bankrupt and she has no place to live.Since she has no money she stole Rakhiji's diamond necklace.Her plan was to steal more and vanish.

Kareena was shocked.

Preeta:Karan Luthra did'nt support Nidhi because he knew her financial condition.

Kareena was shocked.

Kareena:Nidhi,is this true?I trusted you blindly.But you fooled me.

Nidhi felt ashamed.

Kareena:I am sorry ACP Preeta.

Preeta smiled.She smirked at the irritated Nidhi.

Karan met Preeta.

Karan:Thank you very much for finding out the real culprit.As usual you are best at your job.

Preeta smiled.

Preeta:I am glad that Nidhi is the culprit.Because of that atleast she is out of the Luthra Mansion.I could'nt stand her living in your house.

Karan laughed:You were jealous.

Preeta pouted.

Preeta:But in the police station why were you treating me like a foreigner who is a stranger?You behaved as if you forgot that we are lovers.

Karan:Because there you are a police officer,not my fiancee.Anyways Miss foreigner...you come home with me..because our lives are one.

Preeta blushed.

Preeta:That's not done.You have to propose to me properly.

Karan:Now?

Preeta:Not now.But take me to a good restaurant and buy me good food.

Karan smiled.

Karan:I will order your favourite noodles.

Preeta smiled.

Karan took Preeta to a restaurant and ordered noodles.

The waiter served noodles to Preeta.

Preeta enjoyed eating it.

Karan smiled watching it.

Karan:You look cute like a kid Preeta.

Preeta smiled.

Preeta was standing at the lawn.Red heart shaped balloons ad bouquets of red roses were fixed there.

Some heart shaped balloons were flying over her.Gift boxes were lying down.

Preeta was surprised.She opened the gift boxes and found a ring and a pendant.

Suddenly Karan appeared there.

Karan:Will you marry me Preeta?

Preeta replied in excitement:Yes Karan.

Karan smiled and made her wear the ring and the pendant.

Karan decorated the swing with flowers.

Leja tu sandesa mera, main sadke jaawaan

Preeta sat on the swing smiling romantically at him.

Baagon mein phir jhoole pad gaye,

pak gaya mitthiyaan ambiyaan
Yeh chhoti si zindagi de raata lambiya, lambiya

He smiled at her sweetly.

Preeta was at the Luthra Mansion.Nidhi who got released from the jail came there.

Nidhi:I won't allow Karan to marry Preeta.

Karan-Preeta were shocked.

Nidhi:I won't allow Karan to marry Preeta.

Karan-Preeta were shocked.

Karan:Nidhi,guess you have gone mad.Funny and pathetic!

Nidhi:Yes,I am mad in your love Karan.I love you.

Karan was shocked.

Karan:What?

Preeta:Karan,you made fun of me when I was angry with Nidhi staying here.Now you understood why?Because I already knew that Nidhi had an eye on you.

Karan was stunned.

Preeta:Stop it Nidhi.You don't love Karan.That's why you stole Rakhi Maa's necklace.If you had loved him,you would'nt have done that.You are pretending to love Karan to marry him and live a luxurious life.

Karan:Stop this drama and leave Nidhi.

Suddenly Karan saw Rakhi there.

He smiled and said:Nothing is happening here mom.You don't worry.

To their surprise Rakhi raised her voice against Nidhi boldly:Nidhi...Karan does not love you and Preeta is going to be the bahu of this house.Not a thief like this.So get out.

Nidhi was shocked:Rakhi aunty!

Rakhi:Otherwise I will ask Preeta to arrest you.Do you want that?

Nidhi was shocked.She got scared.

Nidhi:I will go.

Nidhi walked out.They smiled with relief.

Karan and Preeta laughed talking about Nidhi's re-entry.

Karan:What a re-entry it was!She got embarrassed.

Preeta:I wish Nidhi had not left and Rakhi aunty had asked me to arrest her.I lost a golden opportunity to arrest her again.

Karan:You are a typical police officer.Your police brain won't go like that.

Preeta:Brain cannot go anywhere Karan.It is fixed in the head by God.

They both laughed.

Karan and Preeta danced romantically at their Sangeet function.

Preeta became upset.

Preeta:What was the need if going abroad Karan?I am earning enough.You don't need to work.

Karan:I can't let you do over time work to lead a smooth family life.Even I have to work and support you.Please support me.

Preeta nodded painfully.

Preeta:I cannot be against your wish.

Karan cupped her face and said:After earning enough money,I will come back to you forever.I promise.

Preeta looked at him painfully.

Preeta:Promise?

Karan held her hand and said:Promise!

Can I be away from you forever?

They embraced each other emotionally.

The Luthras celebrated Kareena's birthday party.

Karan was looking sad.Preeta went near him.

Preeta:Why are you looking dull Karan?

Preeta:All are enjoying the party.Why don't you also enjoy it?

Karan showed an envelope to Preeta.

Karan:I got my visa.I need to go to Dubai soon Preeta.

Preeta became upset.

Karan:I have decided to go.But I wish the visa had come late.That much more time I can spent with you.

Preeta became sad.

Preeta:It's okay Karan.It's for our own better life.

Karan nodded emotionally.

Preeta:Earlier you teased me by calling me 'Miss Foreigner'.Now I am calling you a 'foreigner'.

They both giggled.

Karan got ready to go to the airport.

Preeta looked at him tearfully.

Preeta:Karan!

Karan:You are a brave police officer.I can't believe that your eyes have become wet.

She wiped her tears.

Preeta:I am a brave police officer.But I am a normal wife who has a fragile heart when her husband leaves her.

Karan:But I am not leaving you Preeta.We will be separated only physically.My soul is with you.

They shared an emotional eye lock.

Karan and Preeta were driving to the airport.Suddenly a car which was driven by some drunk students hit their car.Both Karan and Preeta fell out of the car and were injured badly.

The drunk boys were shocked and sad.Suddenly Preeta's colleague Inspector Meet came that way in her police jeep.She was shocked to see Karan and Preeta lying on the road injured.

Meet:ACP Preeta and her husband Karan Luthra!

Meet shouted at the boys:Don't you guys know that drink and drive is dangerous?Because of you all these 2 people are....

The boys:We are really sorry.We will help you to take them to the hospital.They are not dead yet.

Meet was relieved.

Meet:Then carry them to the jeep.

They carried Karan and Preeta to the jeep and Meet drove the jeep to the hospital.

Karan-Preeta got admitted there.

Meet told the boys:The fact is that you all drank and drove.So we have to arrest you all.

The boys became upset.

As Meet informed the police officers,the police force arrived there and arrested the boys.

Preeta murmured in sleep:Karan!

Doctor:Guess the patient is regaining consciousness.It's a good sign.

Preeta opened her eyes and asked:Karan!Is he okay?I want to see him.

Doctor:He is fine.You don't worry.You can see him only when you recover.

Preeta became sad as she was longing to see Karan.

Preeta recovered faster than Karan and walked to Karan's room slowly as it was hard for her to walk.She was relieved to see Karan conscious on the bed.

Preeta:Karan!

Karan:Preeta!

They shared an emotional eye lock.

Karan:I am so happy that you are fine Preeta.

Preeta:I am glad that you are recovering.

Dr:When Karan and Preeta regained consciousness the first thing which they did was enquiring about each other's health.

Karan-Preeta smiled.

Karan and Preeta got discharged from the hospital.

Preeta asked Karan:You are going to leave for Dubai.Right?

Karan:I think the accident took place to show me that my decision was wrong.I realized that I cannot stay away from you.So I decided to stay here itself.I will find a good job here itself.

Preeta was very happy.

Karan got a good job and he started working hard.He became successful and earned well.

Karan held Preeta's hand said:You are the reason behind my success Preeta.Without your support,I would not have reached this level.

Preeta:You are here because of your hard work Karan.I am proud of you.

They smiled.

Karan and Preeta lived happily.

The End

Post marriage phase of PreeRan's life is inspired from the flash back scenes of the tamil movie 'Imaikkaa nodigal'.It is my small attempt to give a happy ending to Vikram and Anjali's tragic love story.
