May be unpopular opinion - I loved almost everything about today’s episode.

Naamdar Mirza sahaab’s death scene was a one beautifully done shot. His opened eyes and how the three members were shown in the background – as if they were his last thought, as if he couldn’t close his eyes and leave them behind.

The small scene where Zaaviyar went ahead and opened the closed door of his room was a nice touch too. He was burdened with a secret, and you can feel claustrophobic at such situations.

But most importantly, I think today’s episode hinted a few things.

If and when Sadaf going to work for Bilal (we know that she is going to!), she goes with a preconceived notion about Bilal. Since she didn’t exactly know why her abba was worried about, her best guess was the ‘appointment letter’. So, whatever the relationship between Sadaf and Bilal is going to be, it would be built on prejudice from Sadaf's side!

I always had doubts about Sadaf’s rejection on Ammar’s proposal. She was slightly hesitant at many instances, like when her mother asked about him etc. It was like she didn’t actually know whether she liked him or not because she had never thought about him that way, plus because she knew about Daaniya’s feelings. But, when Ammar came to meet her today and asked about her well-being and especially, about her brother and mother, you could see that she was softening. So, I think we can expect her to accept him in the coming episodes – my thought is that she is not going to ‘fall in love’ with him, rather she is going to believe that she ‘loves’ him.

‘The heart has hundred reasons for not agreeing and often heart itself doesn’t know why it doesn’t agree.’ This one is going to have a special appearance, for sure! If the way Sadaf refused to meet Bilal and asked her ammi to greet him, only to be restless and run back to see him … well, I am going to keep myself away from predicting. smiley1

P.S.: Hamshaa is quite the character, more than any other character, I am intrigued to see how that one is going to be unfolded. She is really uncomfortable with all the attention Bilal gives to Sadaf (If I refrain myself from saying jealous), that is for sure, but she definitely gives some major negative vibes!smiley2

Haan tou phir chup ke dekhti na? Curiosity and anxiety is fine but she literally ran and barged in after saying she won’t see him under any conditions or see him off or anything. For me it looked like an attempt to create a “moment” but her words before just added unnecessary confusion. If curiosity had gotten the better of her, that I understand. But then it’s executed differently.

Ok I just rewatched the promo and I’m okay with where it’s going. I either watched another one or was half distracted watching it because things that I thought to Ammar were actually about Bilal or so it seems.

Exactly. See my problem with Mein was that Zaid had no relevance plus the story was super weak, there was no head or tail. So a point came when I stopped watching it and when I stop watching something I do not keep tabs on it.

Here, we have scenes where characters are talking about him even if he isn't there...we can see how relevant he is...Bilal has an aura like u said. As a viewer we crave to know more about him which is why I am hoping his backstory and trauma gets explored as the story progresses. I enjoyed today's episode tbh.

Also, I am still unable to decode the story which is what is keeping me hooked as well.

@Bold - I was thinking the same, Bilal's is discussed one way or the other in every scene smiley2

Can wahaj actually start reading his own characters sketch and understanding his screen space before signing crap?

I hope someone tells him that he needs to be selective. Anyways, hopefully story moves quickly once she joins the company. My only complaint is it's been 5 episodes, the slow buildup might not be the best. I think I will binge watch later, I personally don't like slow stories.

Yea I think it's the pace that's the problem and Wahaj is barely there from first 4 episodes I watched. How is the director? I'm not sure if I have watched his earlier work.

Unfortunately that is the main issue. Regressive, Toxic, OTT people can handle but Boring is just a no-go. It's really the incredibly slow pacing and stretching of scenes and the off sequencing of key plot points that's making it boring. Typically, shows get boring and start to drag in the middle or last third but to do this in the start of the show, when the aim should be to hook audiences, is such a bizarre choice.

He has a certain style. Depends on taste. Last one he did was not boring and very interesting even though it wasn’t even a romance per se. In SMD I’m not happy with the direction. Some shots are amazing but overall I feel the focus is on that rather than fixing story/pace/editing/lighting. You have nice looking cast but somehow he managed to make them look sickly and gray. Just saw a crossover with another show and the difference in lighting is so obvious
