It is to be noted that an election for the ICC Chair is only held if there are multiple nominations for the position and at this stage, it looks highly unlikely.

A media release earlier this month had stated that the current directors will put the nominations by August 27.

Although the BCCI Secretary has been tight lipped of the same, he reportedly enjoys support from majority of the Directors. Shah, who currently holds the all-powerful Finance & Commercial Affairs (F&CA) committee of the ICC has got backing from several boards like Cricket Australia (CA) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

ICC Chair Greg Barclay confirmed to the Board that he will not stand for a third term.Notably, Barclay is often remembered for significant contributions to the development and governance of international cricket.
