I think makers want to show Anirudh's own decision to leave Arshi, understanding that they are not compatible. He will be the one to break out of this situationship. That's why they are showing Arshi as grey and not fully a vamp. May be due to this reason they are projecting Anirudh Arshi as couple. Otherwise if a mishap like the fire incident again take place, Anirudh will be again guilt ridden and again side with Arshi. So the feeling that Arshi and him are not made for each other is more important for him to realise as compared to him loving Jhanak.
