Even if she has family, divorce is still largely looked down in South Asia. I know of women living in abusive relationships for years because they don't even have support of family. These parents will rather have a dead daughter than a divorced one.

Nope, it is not misunderstood. It depends on their belief. It is like who follows which school/sect. Like for ahl as-sunnah/hanafi they do consider three talaqs at one sitting as three talaqs. So, by saying talaq thrice, divorce do happen.

Yeah Arfa told me. I didn’t know much about it. I just knew that it’s not a correct way of giving talaq. I come from a different school of thought. In fact I was surprised when triple talaq bill was passed in India. I was like who does it like that.

They got married in the dark of the night with Maulvi, Shabbir & his mother as the only witnesses . Shabbir might make it seem like Ibrahim & Aaliya eloped without a proper nikah while she’s still his wife.

But as per my knowledge there should be max 4 witnesses or minimum two male or one male two female witnesses needed for nikkah. Also wali and wakeel can't be witness then how their nikkah happened. Or am i missing something.

The reviews are fantastic. There was this confidence in our minds that Bilal would be nailing this role.

Though I'm not really interested in the show, might think about binge watching it once the show gets over only to see Bilal's mind blowing transformation and performance.

Yea, the isolation tactic is often used to corner someone into something even when they are not comfortable with the idea. If people knew, then they would not be able to execute planned halala. Wondering if Aliyah blamed herself for the divorce and for going to the friend's house and if her guilt played a reason on her saying qabool at the wedding

Yea, thats why I wondered earlier in the day if this marriage would be still be socially sanctioned if people got to know about it or if they would see it her as running off with a kind of lover.

So as per Hanafi you can marry without your Wali. But after marrying by eloping, if wali says I don't consider this, then that is going to be an issue.

But here she is also a divorced woman. So she doesn't need anyone's permission. There's no need of witness.
