What is your current read and what did you just finish reading? - Page 7

The Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

I've read it a million times, I just like going back to it. Circumstances change, but Sara as a princess always remains a princess by her resilience, morals and deeds, and not by her economic stature. Her kindness to others, her willingness to inspire others, her positivity in whatever she card she is dealt is very motivating. Adversity can test you, but it should never break the soul within. Destiny favours those that believe in themselves, and this one makes you renew hope again 🙂

Finished reading When Breath Becomes Air

A memoir about a neurosurgeon's life battling with stage 4 lung cancer, and sadly, he died before his book was published, but his wife completed his manuscript posthumously.

At the age of 36, Paul was diagnosed with cancer. Suddenly, his life has transformed him from doctor to patient—not an easy transition for anyone, especially someone as hands-on with patient care as Paul had been.

His writing style throughout the book was a little poetic (he had a degree in English literature as well). At times, I had to re-read sentences to comprehend what was being said😅

Nevertheless, an amazing book that opened my eyes and had me wondering for days. I am not sure who reads non-fiction books here, but I recommend this book to anyone whoever likes science or you're interested in learning about his final hours ;)

Just finished GGGTM in record time - after ages I found a book I could binge. Read through almost the entire day Saturday and was done at midnight. Now I wanna read the sequel cos there are so many questions that I think are still unanswered.

But major major heartbreak (no spoilers) . Why didn't anyone warn me that was coming?

I'd say for romance, Dr. Dil is pretty good to get out of a slump. If you're in the mood for thrillers, A Good Girl's Guide To Murder definitely helped me. (I plan to read the physical copy after I finish the audiobook because there are a lot of mixed media elements to that are super engaging in the audiobook, so I want to see how it translates to page.)

My sister read GGGTM and she LOVED it. She bought the trilogy series and is now shelving it as a shrine on our bookshelf

Knowing how hyped that book was, I gave it a try and found it okay *runs*

By the way, its series adaptation just came out. Check it out if you're interested.

PS- Liz, is that House M.D. on your siggy? I was planning to watch it after binge-watching youtube clips, but I have a lot of shows on my plate.

Yep, that's House (my prickly, grumpy teddy bear ). Oh you must watch. Well, idk some stuff maybe quite dated but it's entertaining af. And Hugh Laurie is simply fantastic as House.

I also re-read two BSC books - 'Claudia and Mean Janine' & 'Stacey's Ex-Best-Friend'. I think Stacey's book maybe held up more than Claudia's did, which is shocking because I haven't liked a lot of the Stacey books I've been reading/re-reading. I do have a lot of nostalgia attached to this one just because it was the only physical copy of a BSC book that I owned for at least a decade before I started buying more of them.

I'm also re-reading Heartstopper as I rewatch the show, just finished Vol. 2.

Other books I'm currently reading include Snowbound and The Hawthorne Legacy (Inheritance Games #2). So far, I like the second book a lot more, mostly because my expectations for this series have lowered significantly after reading the first book.

UPDATE: Just finished The Hawthorne Legacy! I'm still shocked that I enjoyed this book because the first one was such a letdown. We saw more of the secondary characters (which is something that I said was actually a positive about the book) and I actually liked the romance this time around just because there was more depth added to it.

I also read more BSC books - 'The Truth About Stacey' and 'Mallory On Strike'. I loved both books, although Stacey's book was technically a re-read just because I read the graphic novel as a kid. I'm also still working through Snowbound - special editions are harder to get into just because you get everyone's POV in it. I'm also reading 'Kristy in Charge' because it's honestly been a while since I've read one of her books.

Currently Reading: My hold for the 'The Final Gambit' audiobook arrived just as I finished The Hawthorne Legacy, so I'm pretty excited to start listening to it.

I've also begun to re-read one of my favourite manga series - Library Wars (currently reading Vol. 8).

Finished: People we meet on vacation by Emily Henry. When I started I thought I’d be rating this book higher but by the time I got to 60% I was like meh. I don’t think I’ll be reading more Emily Henry though there were some parts I did truly enjoy. Maybe I’ll like the screen adaptations more

Now reading: The guest list by Lucy Foley.
