What's Foolish Puckboy? I'm assuming it's hockey romance but is it RH or WC?

I mainly just finished the trilogy cuz I'm stubborn, but I'm definitely in the minority when it comes to Terms and Conditions, everybody loves that book. (I personally just thought that Declan was a less redeemable version of Rowan and he didn't grovel enough for some of the things he said/did throughout the entire trilogy honestly.)

As for Foolish Puckboy, it's part of the Puckboys series by Saxon James and Eden Finley. These two authors have a whole connected universe of series that they've either written individually or together - we call it the Sadenverse. All of these romances are M/M, most of them are hockey romances but it's not like young college kids like in The Deal or Icebreaker or something like that; most of these series are about professionals/adults that are at least 25+ (the only college romance was the CU Hockey series, and even then the characters were seniors, like 22/23). There are tons of different tropes and I love the friend group dynamics, especially because the narrators on the audiobook are so good (comedic delivery unmatched).

UPDATE: Still listening to Foolish Puckboy, but I also started listening to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder and got to like Ch. 36 before my free Spotify listening hours ended! smiley19smiley19smiley19

I also did finish Final Offer... I think the trilogy got worse with every book. The Fine Print was a solid 3.75 stars for me, and then Terms and Conditions was also fine, but it felt just a little too long as I got to the end (I gave it 3.25 stars). And Final Offer was just too damn long, at leat half the book's content should've been cut, 2.5 stars.

UPDATE: Finally finished Foolish Puckboy! I also listened to Dating Dr. Dil by Nisha Sharma and it wasn't really on my radar, I guess I put it on hold a while ago and it just popped up on my account so I decided to listen to it. A solid 4.25 stars!

Ooh I've been meaning to read this one, have it on hold at the library. Glad to know it was good!

I'm in such a slump.smiley13 After 3 false starts have finally settled in with Mrs. Nash's Ashes. Fingers crossed I'm able to finish it!

I'd say for romance, Dr. Dil is pretty good to get out of a slump. If you're in the mood for thrillers, A Good Girl's Guide To Murder definitely helped me. (I plan to read the physical copy after I finish the audiobook because there are a lot of mixed media elements to that are super engaging in the audiobook, so I want to see how it translates to page.)

Does anyone read East Asian novels here?? I remember seeing someone updating their reading schedule (not sure which forum and UN), trying my luck randomly.

Anyway, currently reading Rebirth of a Star General by Qian Shan Cha Ke.

I finished listening to Clueless Puckboy, the fifth book in the Puckboys series, so I thought I was done listening to the series. (I mean, the epilogue certainly made it feel that way!) But then I found out that there was another book that came out earlier this year, and another that might release next year so I guess I'm not done with this series just yet. smiley36

Also, finally finished A Good Girl's Guide To Murder!!! It was so good, like, probably the best book I've read this year so far! (Please don't ask me anything about it unless you want spoilers because I will give everything away!) I'm starting the second book soon, I just have no idea how they'll continue the story based on the ending of the first book.

I read Grihadaha by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay a few months back, and it has left a lasting impression on me. The character of Achola stands out brilliantly; she is a beacon of strength, resilience, and grace. Mahim's character also deserves praise for his complexity and depth. Suresh's passionate love for Achola is something to root for, adding layers of emotional intensity to the narrative. The ending was particularly poignant and left me with a deep sense of melancholy. Chattopadhyay's ability to evoke such strong emotions through his characters and storytelling makes 'Grihadaha' a timeless classic in Bengali literature.

Oh wow, I've read a lot since the last time I said anything about my current reads! June also just felt like such a long month for absolutely no reason.

What I Read:

  • I listened to Kill Joy, which is a novella/prequel to A Good Girl's Guide To Murder. Excellent book, great to see more of Pip's friend group and super jarring to see/hear about certain characters after knowing what I know from the first book.
  • I also listened to The Inheritance Games and it was... unimpressive. I feel like the plot twists were all pretty obvious and the supporting character felt more compelling than the main girl and her two potential love interests. 1.75 stars for me, but I will read the next one because I'm annoyed when I don't know what happens next after investing so much time in the plot. I have to know. I even started the second book, but Spotify hates me so I ran out of free audiobook hours. (some of my reactions to the book in my notes app are truly the most unhinged shit I've ever said though)
  • I listened to a horror/thriller called The Weight of Blood. It was very good! Tiffany D. Jackson is an excellent writer and the cast of narrators were fantastic! I did feel that the horror elements of the books were kind of lacking and I wasn't fully satisfied by the end of it. I would definitely recommend it, but just be sure to check all the trigger warnings first and maybe anticipate being as shocked by some of the racism as I was because it takes place in 2014 (I just know nothing about what small towns in the southern states of America are like). Also, I was in a major reading slump after this book, it took finishing Bridgerton S3 and re-watching Heartstopper for me to want to do anything again. (I'm currently in a romcoms-only kind of mood reading-wise too.)
  • An unsurprisingly high number of children's books, specifically from the Rainbow Magic series (I gave Brittany the Basketball Fairy 4.75 stars and I have ZERO regrets).
  • I read this anthology called 'Burning Girls and Other Stories' and the writing just didn't connect with me. I wanted to DNF this so bad, but it was for my book club, so the one star I gave it was actually for me for somehow getting through this book.
  • I also the first two Ghost-Spider comics last night - super fun! (Did y'all know Seanan Mcguire is on Tumblr and also incredibly funny?!)
  • I just read 'Hello, Mallory' today. It's the 14th book in the Baby-Sitters Club series by Ann M. Martin and the titular character's first book in the series. Mallory Pike is my favourite character, most of the books that I have given five stars to in this series are her books, 10/10 would recommend. (The Netflix series did not do her justice in the slightest!)

Currently Reading:

  • Bombshells Vol 1 - I read a little bit of it and found myself losing interest because I'd just read Ghost-Spider and it had more of that fun, chill vibe that I was looking for. Bombshells is literally about World War II (interesting content, just not what I want right now).
  • I have about an hour left of Status Update by Annabeth Albert (I hope to finish it tonight, I might actually listen to it during dinner). Her books are a level of sad that might make me cry, but won't me put in a depressive episode the way Dustin Thao's You've Reached Sam did.
  • I'm still slowly working my way through Vampire Knight Vol. 1 and I want to finish it this week. I used enjoy this series from what I can remember, so I don't know why I'm having such a hard time finishing it.
  • I want to start Snowbound, one of the BSC special editions, as well. And I'm really excited to read Circe by Madeline Miller because a friend gave it to me. For audiobooks, I want to try listening to The Henna Artist because I was not able to concentrate when I tried reading it a while back and I heard the narrator is pretty decent.

UPDATE: Finished Status Update and definitely found myself getting teary-eyed towards the end! (4-ish stars, come back to me about ratings later)

I also re-read two BSC books - 'Claudia and Mean Janine' & 'Stacey's Ex-Best-Friend'. I think Stacey's book maybe held up more than Claudia's did, which is shocking because I haven't liked a lot of the Stacey books I've been reading/re-reading. I do have a lot of nostalgia attached to this one just because it was the only physical copy of a BSC book that I owned for at least a decade before I started buying more of them.

I'm also re-reading Heartstopper as I rewatch the show, just finished Vol. 2.

Other books I'm currently reading include Snowbound and The Hawthorne Legacy (Inheritance Games #2). So far, I like the second book a lot more, mostly because my expectations for this series have lowered significantly after reading the first book.
