After a commercially driven crappy product in the form of Bombay To Bangkok that was downright rejected, Nagesh Kukunoor promises to return to his forte of simple yet stirring dramas with Aashayein.
In fact when the film was launched last year, it was promoted as Kukunoor's first commercial project since this was his first film that had a saleable star in the form of John Abraham. But if the buzz is to be believed the commercials of the film isn't working out the way the producers might have expected it to work.
To begin with, the film was postponed from its earlier scheduled date of June 20. The reason cited for the postponement was that John Abraham's brother Allan is getting married to his Romanian girlfriend and the wedding is to happen in Romania.
Allan being John's only brother and also for the fact that their parents are quite old, John is actively involved in the wedding preparations. So John wasn't able to give good time for the promotion of the film following which the producers decided to postpone its release to July 4.
But now the news goes that it's not just Allan's marriage that is delaying the film! In fact now the film has been postponed to an even later date of July 25. Releasing the film on July 4 would have been suicidal considering it has two other big releases with newcomers Imran Khan and Harman Baweja making their Bollywood debuts with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Love Story 2050 respectively.
Well, I am still excited to see it. I think it will be a great role for John. And I have seen all Nagesh Kukunoor films excluding Bombay to Bangkok so I am pretty excited. Thanks for posting.
