Yet another Mumbai actress finds a place in the Kannada film industry
The Kannada film industry has played host to a lot of young women who want to play a role or two. Mumbai-based actresses like Jennifer Kotwal and Pooja Gandhi seem to have found more than just a foothold here too. The latest one to join this bandwagon is Surveen Chawla.
Surveen is a familiar face on the Hindi television circuit. Parmeshwar Panwala will mark her first film, and she stars opposite Shivarajkumar in the same.
South bound
"I chose to work in the South because I was looking for a different experience and wanted to work with new people," she says.
"From the time I've started working on this film, the meaning of acting has completely changed for me. I think it is a lot more tedious and taxing when compared to working for television shows. Add to that the fact that I am not familiar with the language makes this project even more challenging. Each night, I stay up to learn my dialogues for the next day. My colleagues are very amused by this, but it is important for me," she says.
Comfort zone
In Parmeshwar Panwala, Surveen plays a chirpy and bubbly girl who falls in love with the Panwala. "I feel very comfortable while working with Shivarjakumar. It is an honour to be sharing the screen with him. And the film unit is very friendly too. So much so, that I don't even feel like I am working here for the first time, I feel completely at home," she says.
While acting was something that happened by chance, Surveen says, "Watching yourself on screen gives you a high," she says.
