We all know what's it like to start writing something and then just stare at the screen blankly because of that massive writer's block.
But it's the month of Pride and we are the FFDT, it's our job to help you write those beautiful stories that are struggling to find the right words and correct plotlines. So, in the spirit of spreading love and kindness, we present to you
We invite authors to pitch in for stories that two amazing writers of the FFDT have started. It'll be a team effort that will end up in two beautiful stories about the LGBTQAI+ community. All you need to do is contribute to a story that someone else began by adding a few words.
Read on for more details and rules
The story will be created by a Team.
Anyone can join this team at any time, you don’t have to sign up for it. The stories will be launched by 2 Prompters (members of the FFDT)
The first person to pick up the Prompt and sign up to write Segment # 2 will be assigned as the Creator of the story.
2 Fichain prompts (one written in narrative and the other in script form) will be launched simultaneously and should be picked up by 2 different Creators.
Contributors will then follow the Creator (writer of segment # 2) and tag at least one other writer and the Creator when you post.
The Creator reserves a post on the first page to collate all the segments updated so far in the story by adding links and maintaining a list with the Segment numbers and the corresponding User names of the Contributors.
Each Contributor must leave the story open-ended for the next person to continue. You can mention/ give hints to the next Contributor at the end of your segment on what angle they can pursue and where you intended to go with your segment, however, it's up to the next Contributor to decide whether or not to pursue that angle.
Contributors need to write about 100–500 words to continue the story. In case of the script, it can be longer about 300 - 700 words. Try to make it an entire scene when you're writing a script. We won't be doing a word count, this is just a guideline and also so that each Contributor does not feel overwhelmed with the volume of writing and the time/ effort taken. However, please do not write pages and pages and take over the entire story - it needs to be a team effort.
The Creators' (& the Prompter's) segment (Segments 1 & 2) can be slightly longer if needed to establish the direction of the story/ characters.
Title your post as Segment # 2, # 3, #4, and so on. In case of Script, it will be Scene # 2,3, 4 and so on.
Contributors should “claim” the next segment by stating in the thread that they are doing so and tagging the Creator and the Prompter. We will ‘hold’ your spot for you for 24 hours. The Creator’s job is to update the first post with all the segments added in. If you're unable to post within 36 hours, your spot opens up, and a different Contributor can 'claim' it.
A Contributor (including the Creator or the Prompter) cannot write segments back to back.
Each Contributor can write upto a maximum of 7 segments per week. This includes Prompter, Creator and any member of the DT.
The lead characters will be established by the Prompter (the DT member who posts the first segment). The Creator (Segment # 2 writer) can add more characters but the story has to be centered around the Prompter's characters. Other Contributors too can add more side characters.
All Contributors (including the Creator & Prompter) need to maintain the Prompter's established characters as the leads, and therefore cannot kill them off prematurely in the story.
You can retcon what anyone else has written, as long as the flow makes sense, but do understand this is a platform for everyone to write, so please be nice.
The Creator decides the ending of the story if they are satisfied with the resolution of conflicts etc. If they are unavailable/unable to do so, one of the other Contributors can, or else it will be a member of the FFDT (most likely the Prompter).
The story should end by 25 June 2024, 11.59 PM IST, unless any unavoidable circumstances prevent that from happening, in which case the person deciding the ending will get some time to work on it. That said, the story can have an epilogue written by the Creator (if they feel the need to do so) which is to be posted within 36 hours after the final chapter is posted.
When the story is completed, the Team can collectively decide on a Title for it.
Readers are welcome to comment on the story and encourage the writers. You are also welcome to give ideas/ provide prompts on what direction/ angle the story can take, however, it's up to the Contributor/s to decide whether or not to accept your ideas.
Since this is not a contest, there will be no judging/ marks given for the chapters or the story as a whole.
Follow IF Code Of Conduct and Fan Fiction rules at all times.
We are trying to spread awareness, and we also understand that every person has shades, which also means that members of the LGBTQAI+ can be grey or have darker shades. However, if your chapter spreads misinformation or hate against any LGBTQAI+ groups, we will remove/edit the chapter. We are allowing homophobia/transphobia/prejudice against the community in the stories as long as it's not glorified or gratuitous and is presented in a way that will highlight the struggles/ challenges of the community.
The FFDT reserves the right to edit/ remove any content that it deems as non-compliant and breaching the rules without notice.
For any more questions, hit us up on the thread.
