Zamda is a victim but she is a grey character as well. People sympthize with her initially.

Unfortunately, in ptv dramas they represent male villains in a bit of positive light too. That people start sympathizing with them after certain point.

It used to happen very long ago but not anymore. The actress who plays Apana - her family migrated to Pakistan from Afghanistan because of this issue, generations ago. Someone died and they were afraid they’ll all be killed so they made the big move

I remember when the show was coming out literally nobody even knew what khaie meant. It had to be clarified since it’s an unknown thing

males aren’t never just straight villains , no matter how bad they are they will somehow be redeemed. In sukoon that guy that raped his wife has been been given a redemption arc already . I don’t see female antagonist getting the same grace

Exactly

They turn Male villains into hero towards the end. It happened in itv and BW movies too. Matlab villain ko villain kyun nhi rehny detey. All of sudden, villain realizes his mistake and his redemption has been done. Aisy thodi na hota hai 🥴

if we’re going by number she’s killed more including one underage kid - who was a total jerk , yes - but a kid nonetheless. I was with her at that point though. I was even with her during her plan to get Barlas killed.

Where she lost me was when the writing got dumb around the time of her killing Gulaab Khan. The plot just became too convenient and dumb for me. And then she used Barrera - who had been nothing but good and kind to her and who was a victim herself.

final nail in the coffin was her betrayal of Badal and getting him captured. That was some cold shit.

All of these could have been framed soooooo much better and I would have been with her still. But her perspective on all this has completely been ignored. Like… did this girl even contemplate on what she did to Badal ? To Barrera ? Her ALLIES? 🤦🏻‍♀️

I won’t put it past her to kill Aizaz too at this point. Just kill them all baby and then go bury yourself in the grave you dug 🤣👏

But Khaie didn’t do this selectively with the male villains. And not all of them. Duraab stayed a hardcore villain till the end. If he’s praised, it’s just the actors performance. We know he’s 10/10 evil. Then there’s Gul Wareen, the evil second wife who did all sorts of bad with Bareera. But when she loses her first son and then the next you feel her pain. Not to mention A+++ acting. A performance can make or break a character.

If everything had been black and white in a revenge saga , there would be no conflict of emotion for the audience, no stakes - all the thrill is in watching characters you begin to care for but know that they must die because they have to.

So the presence of characters like Barlas and Bakhtawar are crucial. You have to be affected by their pain too. Can’t just be one sided. Too simple

Females get the opposite treatment

1. MJ in Mein never got a redemption arc even though we all waited for it. To say that was a let down would be an understatement

2. Zamda right now has been stripped of her conflict and humanity and all of that humanity has instead been shifted to her enemies. Hence sympathy is there at the moment

these are just plain bad writing choices 🤷‍♀️ and obviously writing WILL influence the audience’s perception

some of the comments here saying they don’t sympathise with Zamda doesn’t mean they’re the main audience ..
