The audience wants woman as lachaar sobbing dhukiyari like 1950s and 1960s bollywood heroines mostly
Like meena kumari and nargis all they did in 50s and 60s was crying and abla nari act in movies
so a patriarchal society audience want to watch such woman only in TV
they cannot like strong opinionated independent woman standing on own feet (like kavya, maya, malati devi, barkha all are villans and malvika well she did ema with vanraj so another bad woman although its vanraj who trapped her so what shes from usa western dressing opinionated so bad and so is devika bad woman as educated working opinionated so is rakhi etc all vamps and villans not heroines )
There was time in 80s and 90s that such woman serials had high TRP like tara, rajini, udaan etc
That was also a time when working women were 35% to 40% in india now woman participation has reduced to 23% in company of any kind(i am talking of educated above 16 years)
S uprising although 2023 is more modernized/educated than 1980s and 90s with ppl dressing and behaving like USA/western culture compare to 80s and 90s the society has become more regressive and violent towards woman and less tolerant towards working and educated and capable opinionated woman
Look at any serial nowadays where TRP is high woman is bechari dhukiyari left by hubby cheated by hubby always crying and zulm by hubby and in laws even educated like sai or her daughter are all dhukiyari and bechari left by hubby etc
Look at top 5 shows only all a dabba on woman empowerment and regressive to core like anupama, ghum, yeh rishta, imlie etc

Compare that to strong educated capable woman working like IAS kavya, journalist barastein, business woman vanshaj etc all flop shows less tha 0.5 to 1 TRP always
All these 3 shows with less than 1 trp have much more woman empowerment a million times more than any anupama or ghum or imlie heroine can ever have. But who watches them? None
