I mean look at their hand' gestures and the way they are so close with each other physically.

Did they had/have some fling and were not just married due to some reasons (eg both Salman and Karishma's mom Babita, her master, are known to be ubar dominating and aggressive) and some other reasons they chose not to get married and just had a romantic relations ship?

What I understood from this pic is He was feeling sleepy and was about to fall off from his chair on the opposite side while dozing off, karishma just helped him by stopping him from falling off the chair and Salman suddenly woke up and held her for support when he realized that he is falling off the chair during his sleep

Saajan was released 3 years BEFORE hahk.

What I am saying is he didnt even bothered to capitalize over the HISTORIC success of hahk AFTER its release by taking Madz in more films opposite to him, unlike in Karishma's case where he repeated her some 8 more times after their first two colossal disasters Jaagruti and Nishchaiy in 1992.
