Personally, I don't dislike Alia and I enjoyed the movies - except Gangubai - I watched with her which wasn't because of her but with her as she had strong co-actors (strong to me).

I loath Karan for what he did with Alia (and now with others, too)...I guess, with another 'mentor' or best without a mentor she may have improved as she really showed serious talent already in her second movie (Highway). In my thinking, he really tried to form an actress according to his imagination and without him, the term "nepotism" would - maybe - not play that role he gave to it (Kangana wasn't wrong when she accused him).

I don't know what happened after 2010 with him but it wasn't for the better for the Hindi filmindustry, imo.

SRK likes what Alia has to offer when really invested in something... that's why he co-produced Darlings as one of his Netflix movies (which always have interesting topics)...and Alia could hold her position as actress in the ensemble cast. Imo, she has potential but I feel that the self-centered yet insecure part of her character got the upperhand (with KJo's 'help' and through messed-up PR).

I don't know how much she is already at a point of 'no-return'...maybe she should look out for a Dr. Jehangir Khan to make her find the woman and actress she could be...

Alia earlier on in SOTY was like teen girl trying to be a grown up woman. It was annoying. Then she did Highway, Raazi, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya, Dear Zindagi, where came across as fairly good or competent actress. She was some one who could do a good job provided is given a good script and made to perform to her strength.

But in her recent past movies, she is mediocre at best. And using her PR and Papa KJo to declare herself as best actress ever born on planet earth. 😵🙄

Next she becomes GF of Kapoor khandan ka chirag, marries him and has a child. Now she passes off statements which put the kapoor khandan ka chirag in bad light. Her off screen behavior is off putting. Something is not right.

I did explain them that why they should not indulge in name calling but they were not bullying her per se turned out they were all friends it was all in jest the girl was laughing and whining then retorted by calling them chota bheemnicknaming happens in friends group not a big deal unless ofcourse the other person minds.

Guess I should have clarified that it wasn't a serious issue and my point was how Alia's name is synonymous to nepotism with that example.

Agree and Even for Highway Kjo called Imtiaz and got him to cast Alia. Imtiaz was not sure about casting Alia but Karan requested Imtiaz to .


So in a way it’s all about “opportunities” which is why Alia got a female centric movie in her second movie after an average first film.

Yes, but Imtiaz made her play the role like he imagined...and she delivered...

I really like to see what Imtiaz gets out of his actors/actresses... he clearly has a theatrical background
