She did because well we can’t expect her to look like she did in her younger years but believe me, when I saw her in OTT, she was still better looking than all the other younger female contestants, and that too with minimal makeup, I guess she also quickly lost her looks due to her alcohol problem.

In no way Sonali was in the same league of actresses like Karishma, Juhi, Kajol etc she was far far behind them...

Sonali was in the league of Shilpa shetty and Twinkle Khanna maximum... I have lived 90s decade and can tell you this for sure with confidence.

It's just that the new kids born during or after 90s at IF likes her in hssh with Salman and her beauty but she was a B lister of 90s. Even the likes of Manisha Koirala, Pooja Bhatt and Raveena Tandon were far ahead of her in popularity and categorization.

Pooja Bhatt got the meatiest part and most screen time among all actresses in Border, though it was a male centric film. Tamanna, Zakhm, Daddy and Phir teri kahani yaad aayi are her master pieces.

In film Prem Deewane Pooja Bhatt got more screen time then Madhuri Dixit.

Dhkmn and Sadak are her movies and are super hits and cults. Maybe Sonali resurfaces due to her beauty and participations in tv shows judging dancing etc which Pooja never did, that's why she is maybe more visible to the new kids, but Sonali as a heorine was a B lister and forsure was behind Pooja Bhatt in popularity during the 90's.

Not at all... Pooja Bhatt had and still have great bond with and support from her father Mahesh Bhatt, infect 60% of the films Pooja has acted in were directed by her father.

------------

That makes sense. I've always heard people say she was more on the rankings of Shilpa, Raveena, and Twinkle than Madhuri, Karishma, and Juhi. I was born late 90s which also explains why most of these Pooja Bhatt films you've mentioned mean nothing to me and why the Sonali films I've seen would have been her more high-profile ones with Khans so she would seem a higher-profile actress to me. As you said, she kept up appearances in the industry in the 2000s so that's the era I'm most familiar with. Similarly, for the longest time I had very little knowledge about Sridevi because she was also before my time and basically invisible for the 2000s. Now she's one of my favorites.

Was Manisha considered an A-Lister or also somewhere in-between A-Lister and B-Lister?

Who are the other actresses in Border? Was Tabu in it too? I'll have to watch that one day if Border 2 is coming out.

That's surprising that she had more screentime than Madhuri in Prem Deewane. I hadn't heard of that movie so I looked it up and it's strange that they gave Pooja more screentime when Madhuri has billing over her and is front and center of the poster.

I didn't realize Sanjay Dutt was in Sadak. He's one of my least favorite actors and one I can barely tolerate onscreen unless there's a second hero (usually Salman Khan) with him which also explains my lack of familiarity with this film.

Ok another misconception I had was that I thought Pooja and Alia had the same mother and grew up together. I didn't realize that Pooja was from Mahesh Bhatt's first wife so they are only half-sisters. The sad story about receiving no financial protection was about Alia so I assumed it applied to Pooja as well so I'm glad Pooja didn't have to go through that. However, it still seems like her father was very creepy. I've heard about his weird exploits and that he had lots of seedy connections and even in another thread, people are pointing out his incestuous comments about Pooja and pics of him kissing her. So I don't know how blessed her childhood was either with a father like that but I remember before that I said this type of upbringing would explain why she was so advanced and progressive for her time, because she needed to fight against this behavior at home. A pity her career was forced to end then because people could not tolerate her for speaking out. She sounds very impressive so I'll keep all the films you listed with her in mind so I can also see why Pooja Bhatt seems so popular.

Pooja's career didn't end coz of her outspoken nature..or her controversial photoshoot. She wasn't interested..most of her movies were with her dad. Didn't venture out more. Lost looks coz of alcohol addiction and in general wasn't a friendly person.

Though she has a different take. She said her peak was at 19 yrs of age and at 24 industry said she was done. That led to quitting films.

She was more of a story teller than n actor. Made Tamanna and Dushman which were nice films.

To c her act watch Daddy, Sadak, Dil hai ki maanta nahi and Zakhm..and her one scene in Border while seeing off Akshaye Khanna. These ones sum up her good movies

Well not Raveena as she was a league higher but Shilpa, twinkle and Mamta kulkarni.

Manisha was an A lister, but could not sustained for longer, her peak was in 1996. She had the charm innocence and depth in acting like yesteryear actresses.

Yes Tabu was in Border, also yesteryear actress Rakhi's daughter who was a newbie.

Pooja Bhatt started with a BANG with two back to abck superhits Dhkmn and Sadak... people used to consider her in top 3 contenders of future, she was extremely popular during early 90s that's why got more screen time and prominant role then Madhuri in film prem Deewane.. do watch this song of prem Deewane with both Pooja and Madhuri, you will enjoy it.

Sunjay Dutt Sadak was one of his best films, do watch it, it's very engaging and interesting with great songs.

These are the misconceptions that Mahesh Bhatt haters spread... he was always a good and supportive father to both Alia and Pooja.. it's just that he is unconventional for most people so they cannot digest his philosophies.

It was a kiss between father and daughter. Pooja recently expressed her disgust in an interview after bigg boss over people's mentality stated that if people can doubt a pious relation of a father and daughter they can do anything... they are just more expressive. Pooja was from a foreigner white woman hence ass more spunky and bold.

Do watch dil hai ke manta nahi, ZAKHM, TAMANNA and Sadak atleast if you cannot watch more... these are four of her best films. (do watch phir teri kahani yaad aayi for her performance as a schezophrenic patient, she nailed that role)
