That's not true.
The best selling soundtrack of the year 1993 was KHAL NAYAK at number one, with 10, 000, 000 audio cassettes sale, you can confirm it from any online source you like.
Moreover Baazigar was not a blockbuster movie, it was a super hit. The ONLY blockbuster movie of the year 1993 was AANKHAIN. Rest all of the biggest hits of 1993 were just super hits and not block busters, be it Khal Nayak, Baazigar, Darr or Hum Hain rahi pyar ke.
Also the film which established SRK's STARDOM was DDLJ in 1995.
Darr followed by Baazigar in 1993 only cemented his worth as saleable actor.

Baazigar was released on 12 November 1993, coinciding with the festival of Diwali.[4] Made on a budget of ₹40 million, the film was declared a blockbuster at the box office with a worldwide gross of ₹320 million.[5] Apart from emerging as a major financial success, the film has become a cult film over the years due to its suspense, story, screenplay, soundtrack and performances of the cast.[6] It was the first collaboration between Khan and Kajol, who went on to become one of India's most iconic on-screen couples. It helped establish Khan, Kajol, Shetty and Malik in Hindi films, and the soundtrack sold over 10 million units, thus becoming the highest-selling album of the year.[7]
Khal Nayak is known for its music, especially the song "Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai", sung by Alka Yagnik and Ila Arun. The Khal Nayak soundtrack album sold 10 million copies, making it one of the year's best-selling Bollywood soundtrack albums, along with Baazigar.[2] Khal Nayak was released on 6 August 1993, and became the second highest grossing Hindi film of 1993, surpassed only by Aankhen.[3] It received positive reviews from critics, with praise for its screenplay, soundtrack and performances of the cast.
Notice the emphasis on Baazigar selling over 10 million units (one crore plus) whereas Khal Nayak sold 10 million copies, not over it.
And Khal Nayak was also a blockbuster, not just Aankhen.
BOI doesn't have info on Baazigar for 1993 but it does confirm that Khal Nayak and Darr were both blockbusters. Darr was also the highest grossing movie overseas. BOTH Baazigar and Darr were responsible for SRK's stardom in 1993 which was his breakout year. DDLJ is not what established him as a star.
You're also ignoring that in 1995, the same year as DDLJ, SRK also had Karan Arjun. Karan Arjun was released at the beginning of 1995 whereas DDLJ was released at the end of the year but Karan Arjun was the second-highest grossing movie of the year and BOI characterizes it as a super blockbuster. So you can't even argue then that DDLJ's success is what made Karan Arjun a super blockbuster because it came afterwards. How can you have two blockbusters like Baazigar and Darr and a super blockbuster like Karan Arjun and not have stardom?
