IMO the first 4 are the really good actresses.

it's just sad that even the lowest ranked Karisma is far far better than today's nepo products.

By no means Karisma is a bad actress. she was brilliant in Zubeida and Fiza.

But the talent is so good that she is ranked last amongst these names, at least.

2.tabu just lacked that glam heroine factor and dance

3.urmila she was great but got rgv typecast

4.juhi focused more on bubbly roles and comedy

5.kajol I feel without srk pair might not got so popular

6karishma took really long to do a fiza or zubeida

7.manisha never really understood her acting

Juhi a better stress than Madhuri?

She was just a chirpy cheeky queen, and could do comedy roles the best

In all other departments she was just average.

Agree with almost everything you wrote.

Manisha was INCONSISTENT... in few films she was just OK and in some she was extraordinary like Dil se, khamoshi, akele hum, Bombay... her main issue was her diction and dialogue delivery and hyper ventilation in few scenes.

Tabu was more inclined towards art/parallel cinema, it was/is her forte, she came into her own in such movies. She was not a great dancer, she was just ok with comedy. As long as her character had some seriously serious shades she was really really good.

All these actresses would have done quite well in serious cinema too but they chose to act in commercial films, except Taboo.

I think all are stellar actresses though so really you could rank these women in any order.

I do think Manisha is a strong actress, and likely she's better than Juhi and Madhuri but out of all the actresses, I've seen her work the least.

It was tough between Juhi and Madhuri but I've always resonated with Juhi more so I think that's why I ranked her higher. And she overshadowed Madhuri in Gulaab Gang.

Kajol I ranked last only because I think her range is the shortest but she herself admits that she doesn't like to go out of the box and likes to play the same type of roles over and over. She doesn't have a Fiza or Zubeidaa that would make me rank her over Karishma. I do think if Kajol exerted herself, she would have the acting chops to pull off more daring roles.
