sounds like a rape apologist story line which can be quite problematic and triggering to watch. Ultimately punishing the offender for his heinous crime but not before making the audience “feel bad” for him 🤦🏻♀️🤯
maybe that’s just scratching the surface from what you wrote about it. But I do wish south Asian cinema and tv could leave these kinds of stories behind.
Of course your portrayal remark makes perfect sense. Zahid is a great actor and I don’t doubt it for a second that his performance would have been top notch.
An amazing story is Haiwaan with Faisal Qureshi, Sawera Nadeem and Wahaj Ali. I can’t tell you how utterly mind blowing the performances there are. I mean wow. And it’s such such suchhhh responsible story telling too. When I say Wahaj, even as a supporting actor, picked solid scripts, this is definitely one of those scripts. And FQ nailed the role of a murderer in guilt but you never feel sorry for him because his guilt is extremely selfish. It’s about child assault and murder committed by FQ who plays Wahaj’s dad in the drama and how FQ keeps this a secret for years. Eventually wahaj ends up married to the victim’s older sister who’s still searching for the culprit of her sisters murderer. It’s an emotional ride for sure.
