I think I know why MJ rejected him the first time.

She was disgusted with Mohib divorcing her because she had asked him more than once if he could take her tantrums and he had gladly said yes. One look at Zaid and anyone would say 'straightforward, as always' and since MJ didn't believe love was of any use at all and Mohib agreed to worship her all through her life, she chose Mohib...that's why that sad look was there on her face...she chose wrong, because she did not understand love back then. She just assumed Zaid would never adjust to her...would leave her eventually.

That's also why she was slightly surprised he agreed to marry her and also explains - you can't ignore me, especially you ...hum achhe dost bhi hai...she just didn't realise he fell for her so deeply.

I agree with it. It can be true totally. Also yes, may be she took his confession lightly as a mere crush. But yes, may be she didn't think he would bear her tantrums. Usko kya pata tha ke Zaid would more than let her throw tantrums. Chance toh deti.. I want ILY from Zaid now bas 🤷
