Also has anyone else noticed that KJo's films used to constantly win acting awards as long as SRK was starring in them? Once SRK stopped coming in his movies, KJo's films have not won any acting awards since then (unless you count Sid's Best Debut award).

Yes, if he's winning it his year, it's absolutely going to be and should be for Jawan. the double role adds another dimension so its that much more superior to Dunki. Don't think Pathaan is even in the conversation vs the other 2. It's a bit like 2004, when he had 3 nominations Main Hoon Na, Veer Zaara and Swades. You always knew he was going to get it for Swades or Veer Zaara and not for Main Hoon Na.

I'm assuming you mean films directed by Kjo not produced right? He's only directed 3 since My Name is Khan - Student of the Year, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and RARKPK last year (Unless you count Lust stories and Bombay Talkies mini films). Student of the year was an average movie. Ranbir was good and nominated for ADHM but Aaamir khan was so far ahead for Dangal that year that they had to give it to him even though they knew he won't come or even acknowledge the award. (Such incidents are the ones which still preserve some integrity in Filmfare awards for me) RARKPK has some chances - maybe Alia can win BA. Jaya/Shabana can win in the supporting/villain categories. I think Ranveer was brilliant in the movie, slightly better than Alia I would say but it will be a miracle if he wins above SRK, Ranbir or Vicky. It could win some in the music categories too.

The double role I think is what will help clinch it for Jawan for him. Filmfare loves double roles since both of Sridevi's Filmfares came from her double role movies (ChaalBaaz and Lamhe). Not to mention Kaho Na Pyaar Hai for Hrithik, OSO for Deepika's Debut, and SRK probably would have won for OSO had he not been up for Chak De India the same year.

Yes, I meant KJO's directed/written films. Anushka also got a nomination for ADHM. She's actually never won the Best Actress award, only Best Supporting Actress for Jab Tak Hai Jaan, despite winning the IIFA Best Actress for Band Baaja Baraat. Aish was strangely snubbed for Best Supporting. For RARKPK, I think Jaya and Shabana have the best chances of winning. Jaya could also win the Negative Performance award since Filmfare has always loved awarding her. I agree that Ranveer was amazing in the movie but he won't win this year with SRK for Best Actor and Vicky for Critics Best Actor.

If you look at KJo's directed/written films, you can see the categories that won acting awards below.

Best Actor (2x wins): SRK in KKHH, SRK in MNIK

Best Actress (4x wins): Kajol in KKHH, Kajol in K3G, Preity in KHNH, Kajol in MNIK

Best Supporting Actor (3x wins): Salman in KKHH, Saif in KHNH, Abhishek in KANK

Best Supporting Actress (3x wins): Rani in KKHH, Jaya in K3G, Jaya in KHNH

KKHH did the best winning every award that year it was nominated for, including all four acting awards.

KHNH did the second best, winning 3/4 of the acting awards.

That film was OTT so it won't be eligible.

That is sad. Sharmila and him were both beyond exceptional in it.

They'll be eligible for the OTT Awards though.

Oh yes, now that you mention it, I see a certain affiliation to double roles and multi-faceted roles. The 2006 one for example, I couldn't get how Hrithik won for Dhoom 2 over SRK in KANK, Sanjay Dutt in Lage Raho, Aamir in RDB or Ajay Devgan in Omkara. But maybe with your pointing out, he played multiple versions in that role in Dhoom 2. Not exactly a double role but still had a lot of variations in the role. Had the same feeling in 2000, when I felt Sanjay Dutt was better in Mission Kashmir or even SRK in Mohabbatein than Hrithik in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. But your observation makes so much sense looking back.

Yeah, I never understood why Hrithik won for Dhoom 2 either. His role was more about the physicality of his acting and action scenes than actual acting. He and SRK both had dual nominations that year. Hrithik for Dhoom 2 and Krrish and SRK for KANK and Don. I agree with Hrithik's win for Koi Mil Giya but his Krrish was definitely not deserving of a win so I wouldn't have awarded him that either. I would have given SRK the award for KANK and then Don.

His win for Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai is more significant because it's the only time that any actor/actress won Best Debut and Best Actor in the same year for the same role. Hrithik and SRK ruled Filmfare in the 2000s so it's fitting that Hrithik would start off the decade with those wins.
