Anupamaa actress Apara Mehta has opened up on how the audience changed after Malti Devi turned negative. The actress talks about mindset of the audience.

Apara Mehta essayed the role of Anuj Kapadia's mother in the popular TV show Anupamaa. The actress played Gaurav Khanna's mom in the Rupali Ganguly starrer TV show, produced by Rajan Shahi of Director's Kut Productions. Apara Mehta entered the show as Guru Maa, who taught dance to Anupamaa. She had a similar fate unlike Anupamaa but chose career over family, unlike Anupamaa. After getting back her son Anuj, Malti Devi turned against Anupamaa. Apara Mehta has addressed the audience's reaction to the changes in her character...

Apara Mehta talks about the audience's reaction after Malti Devi turned negative in Anupamaa

In conversation with TC, the noted actress talked about how the audience loves the drama but hates the negative characters. Apara Mehta wonders and finds it questionable that the audience takes the drama in the serial so seriously. As an artist, Apara says they perform the role to the best of their abilities. She does credit the audience for giving them fame but people don't get the smallest of things. She says that people need to understand that daily soaps are meant to be watched as a medium of entertainment

Apara Mehta shares negative reactions after Malti Devi turned negative

Apara Mehta reveals she was never on social media. But she joined after she joined Rupali Ganguly starrer Anupamaa as Guru Maa or Malti Devi. At first, fans showered her with loads of love. However, as Malti Devi turned negative, people turned nasty and abusive. She got a personal attack for the character she has been essaying. "What bothers me is that people do not understand the difference between reel and real. I receive good feedback 95 percent of the time but it is the other five percent who need to understand that I am playing a character in the show and that is not how I am in reel life," Apara says.

It’s the doing of these shameless MAA bhakts who can’t tolerate when sane characters like MD say something sensible or give reality checks to their Devi that’s why they’re abusing her kyunki unke according unke idol ghatiya ho sakti hai par galat nahi smiley19smiley28

Sad! But such audience exists, we all know!

Did the actress playing Baa ever complain of such a thing, kyonki wo badi hai aur Bhagwaan bhi?

Arre don’t you know characters like Vanraj Pakhi are hailed for saaf dil acche log who love their DeviMaa very much unlike evil characters like Anooj, CA, MD who have tortured DeviMaa to no end..

Its sad that people get so personal and low with their hateful comments….they fail to see the difference between the charcter and actor…

Calling the actors names and shaming them for their personal life and choices is downright disgusting…these frustrated individuals who get so involved and defensive about their idols need to be called out  but sadly they get liked and appreciated for the support, thats where the hatred stems from.

Exactly.

A character is a work of fiction and a product of some writer's imagination.

An actor is a living person doing a job.

How can the two be equated is beyond one's understanding.

Infact, isn't it said that the person working at office and the same person at home are not the same? A person can be aggressive or purely transactional at work, can he/she be as aggressive/transactional at home?

The jobless and homeless MD's transition to complete resentment for MAA may have been fast but it was still in distinct phases. It started with MAA's very obvious inclination to HasLee which she hated. Many of her Voice overs mentioned that it's fine if Anuj spends on Anupamaa but why the Shahs?

Next she begun detesting how Anuj was always a yes-man for Anupamaa even though she never put him first place concluding that Shahs are always gonna come with her as a package deal and to get rid of them she needs to get rid of Anupamaa.

And finally the knife scene where Anupamaa displays her threatening audacity that nobody should bother about how she spends Anuj's resources. That led to outright hate for her.

So it may be bad but does have conclusive logic.
