What we know is that there will always be people wanting to pull him down, to demean his work, to want him to 'fail'. SRK is the most used person here in the forum to vent own feelings...positive and negative ones. That makes him, indeed, someone very special

Ok finally got to watch the movie had really high hopes from this collaboration and they delivered till a certain extent.

TBH I have never been a Hirani fan, barring Lage Raho Munna Bhai didn't like his brand of cinema, have always found it too preachy. This one lacked that preachiness which I personally liked but in the process the film ended up looking like it lacked a solid stance. The characters Hirani created were too quixotic for the plot. The rehashing of a certain 3 idiots' arc for Vicky Kaushal was a turn off and kinda hampered the ongoing momentum of the 1st half.

The screenplay could have been & should have been more seamless, there should have been a bit more humour in the 2nd half. The supporting cast was fab, Vicky & Boman Irani were underutilised. Minus 1 emotional scene SRK's performance was great, he did really really well but it's high time he lets go off this de-aged clean shave look obsession, it's too darn distracting.

Apart from the not so seamless screenplay and SRK's VFX look the 3rd biggest problem with the film is Taapsee Pannu, that's not to do anything with her performance she does a fine job, but it just ain't enough. When a large part of your film is a Veer-Zaara esque storyline, you do not take a random chic half your age and expect magic to happen in terms of chemistry. Hers was hands down the most demanding role and it needed someone of Priyanka Chopra or Kareena Kapoor's calibre n aura to help execute this camp idea.

Pritam's music was on point and helped the movie in a big way. Most of the jokes landed imo, both the SRK-Vicky scenes were brilliantly acted, the penultimate act of the film was the highlight point for me.

All in all I'd still say a must watch coz if the biggest star & director of the industry were not able to make or break records in drama genre then rest assured ab sirf action flicks & sequels ka barrage aane wala hai, this might just be the last one of this genre mounted on this kinda scale.

But seriously do watch, 3.5 stars.

One thing's funny though , SRK fans have been calling Aamir a hirani made star for years and now he's struggling to give a hit with Hirani.
