Just because 200+ years ago Britishers came to our country without a visa, doesn't mean things have remained same since then. Open borders mean that peaceful countries will no longer remain peaceful and think from their point of view. A country in Europe with a population of 1 lakh, why would it allow 5 lac + Indians to migrate and change the demographics of their country?
I am sure you do realise that he wasn't propagating open borders for "Just" India but other countries as well which are full of terrorism. In India itself we face so much issues with illegal immigration from Bangladesh, Afghanistan, etc. Why would first world countries open their borders for people from over populated countries?
Doing garba parties/opening temples etc is done by peaceful legal migrants. Not the illegal ones.
You know the rest of the world does not operate like India? People should not therefore comment on issues with zero data or research. EU very famously has open borders.
Trump ran a very vicious anti-immigrant campaign about how Mexico was sending its r*pists to the US. Neither did he make a Mexican wall, nor his successors took his racist policies seriously.
There are various reasons why people choose to risk their lives and families to seek asylum through arduous means. Sometimes because countries have complicated migration policies that might take years even during humanitarian crises. Immigration is a very complicated and sensitive topic. And it requires dialogue and reform so that people do not need to do this.
Not everyone who seeks asylum like this is a criminal. That is literally a dog-whistle used by Neo-Nazis
