Venky Mysore, KKR CEO: Somebody told me just now before Starc's bid, they put up something like a historic bid. Very quickly history changed. IPL has changed and the salary cap has changed (laughs). Everyone comes with their own plans. This is my 14th auction - you know you win some and lose some. Starc was a proffered player from that skillset standpoint. We were not successful in some bids, so that favoured us. We were just happy to have him in our side.

Here's DC coach Ponting: Nice birthday, so far. Been here for a couple of days. We got a couple of players we wanted. We were a bit surprised with Brook's price. Getting him for the price we did allows us to go for Indian players and a foreign fast bowler.

Solanki, GT: I wouldn't call anybody a steal. That's disrespectful to that player to some extent. We value Omarzai and Umesh. You focus on skill sets than players at an auction. We got two players that we had in our pre-planning and we're looking forward to them joining us.

Sanjay Bangar,PBKS: Woakes covers two positions for us - Curran and Rabada. Having an Indian seamer is of immense value. Harshal bowls through the middle and death overs. It gives us an option of using Harshal as an Impact Player. That was the thinking behind acquiring both Woakes and Harshal.

This is what the SRH head coach had to say about the side breaking the bank for the Australian captain. “It's such a small auction and as I said, the team felt relatively settled that we could one or two players. The left-handed opening batsman was a huge part of that. I didn't expect to be pushed that hard by Chennai but happens and then obviously looking at their quality at the top. There are so many good players available and when you have that big purse, you can target one of them and hope to get them. That was the case with Cummins and obviously there are still some very good players to come. If we missed out on Cummins, we would have targeted them.”
