Ms Chatterjee vs Norway was a very hammy performance. It's one of her weakest (tbf Rani is a good actress so that doesn't mean much and she performed better than a few on this list) but the movie relied on the emotions of the overtly dramatized screenplay than Rani's skills themselves.

I was hoping for Rani to finally get that Padma Shri (I mean Raveena getting it is a ??????)

In terms of pure skills this list would be very different. This is based of "buzz" for this year.

She is not, but she did make it for 2022. She was the strongest actress in Satyaprem Ki Katha.

Nayanthara got overshadowed by DP in Jawaan whilst the latter had like 20 minutes of screentime. I am beginning to think south actresses, maim stream ones at least, are not that great to begin with. Of course I say this with my minimal.experinece with south movies, so there might be some brilliant actresses am not familiar with.

Tripti's recognition was well over due. I am surprised she managed to overshadow Rashmika in her miniscule role as a big screen debutant. I am both happy and surprised.

Anushka Shetty (South) is the strongest of the leading ladies in India actually. Better than Deepika and Alia skills wise. Sai Pallavi is also insanely strong as an actress.

There is no major talent disparity amongst actresses but the South utlizes dubbing a LOT. Many actresses get dubbed for most if not all their films by another woman. See how Janhvi Kapoor magically performs better in Devara (it's because of dubbing) and she's far from the only one.

A few who dub for themselves tend to not put any expressions while acting. Pooja Hedge and SreeLeela would get trolled worse than nepo kids here even though their voices are fine.

The dubbed actresses struggle in Bollywood with their voice. Rashmika's emoting was not bad at all, I think she'll get there.
