That is exactly what I am saying, the moment "will" comes in picture it is entirely the decision of owner on how property will be divided, other laws won't supersede in such cases. Here he could have very well added Subhadra's name (if at all he cared), yes she wouldn't have got anything if there were a partition suit since she was before the right to females in father's property.
I guess I missed that Bhasan on SPM's life.

But even in self acquired property tab tho woh tradition bhi nehi tha na ish liye I am not surprised about Subhadra not getting share. Family property hoti tab bhi nehi milta Subhadra ko that time.
Considering the ERA of SPM, SPM wasn't bound in ANY way neither legally nor as a matter of the then stereotypical chalan to give anything to Subhadra! That time tho koi soochta tak nehi tha about giving property rights to daughters! That's where the issue of Beta Ghar Ka Chirag lied.
All their responsibilities towards a daughter was limited to Marriage and Streedhan.

However in current amendment of Succession Act there are provisions for self acquired property too. The codification is actually very tight and covers a large area
