Indian Idol 14 - Performance Discussion (2&3 Dec'23) - Page 2

Been super busy with work so not able to write much or catch all the episodes but absolutely loved today's episode of II. One of the best episodes so far in this season. Not a single okay performance, everybody was amazing!! I love the fact that they took such popular songs yet the singers sang it in their own style. Piyush, Menuka and Dipon stole the show for me I'm glad Menuka is slowly being given songs with a little faster tempo. I wish the contestants are well balanced though because once again Muskaan sang such a small song while the rest rang two songs. Also guys has the band changed?? Or have they come closer to the contestants? Whatever it is , it definitely is working. Really not much sync issues this time.

Absolutely loved Kalyan ji and his wife's silent camaraderie 🤣 In all a great episode.

Muskaan literally got less and than 2 minutes. Absolutely loved about the moment Kalyanji was having with his wife in silent. Overall good weekend episode.

Looks like I end up missing all Saturday episodes 😢

Kalyanji seems like a permanent guest in the show now. He’s got some lovely songs, so I don’t mind him, but usually the same songs are sung each time.

Muskaan sang dil jalon ko, a song I’ve never heard before. She sounded good, but I can’t comment much.

Piyush - aaja tujhko pukare mere geet and aur is dil mein. WOW!! He sang both songs really well, but the second one was beyond amazing. Perhaps one of the best renditions of the song I’ve heard.

Dipan - oh saathi re/ rafta rafta - oh saathi re isn’t a song that I find enjoyable to listen to, but he sang it so well. Dare I say I enjoyed it more than the original composition. Kudos for singing two very different songs. Shows not only versatility but also confidence.

Menuka - chandan sa badan and dil to hai dil - none of these songs suited her voice. Although she sang them well, I won’t say I enjoyed it. She sounded very kiddish in chandan sa badan. Dil toh hai dil is a song I really like, but it just didn’t sound that good in her voice.

Vaibhav - khaike pan banaras wala/ aap ka Kya hoga. This guy isn’t just a singer, he’s a performer. He not only sings well, he creates a concert like atmosphere. I don’t see him as a playback singer, but he’ll do wonders in live concerts. Having said that, I’m not saying he didn’t sing well or anything on those lines. I’ve always liked his performances.

Obom - Sama hai Suhana/ neele neele ambar - this is undoubtedly his best performance on the show. Sama hai suhana was good but with neele neele ambar he took his performance to another level. While soft melodies are his forte, id really like to hear him sing different genres.

On a side note - I hope the next seasons of Indian Idol continue with the same judges and host. I never realized what we were missing until Hussain came back.

Yes I have been noticing that you end up watching Sunday episodes only but koi nahi you might be busy with things.

Hahaha!! Saturdays I’m inevitably supermarketing and then out for dinner!! I always think I’ll catch the show online, but it just doesn’t happen.

I don’t think

The band has changed but I think they have come more closer to contestants. One more thing that I have noticed this couple of weeks that the bonds between the contestants. I think their bond has grown a lot since grand premier. How they are supporting each other and cheering for their fellow contestants and it seemed and felt genuine to me.

Piyush, Menuka and Dipon stole the episode for me. Totally enjoyed the show that I never want it to end. Lol

I think except Adya & Mahima everyone sang very well this weekend. Loved Obom, Utkarsh, Piyush and Dipan's performances.

I am liking the boys more than the girls and I feel it's again going be a male winner this time. Only Anjana and Menuka can give fight. Adya has decent fan base but her singing is not of that level. Muskan, Ananya and Mahima are mostly good singing wise but their insta followers are still below 5K.

I feel this with the female contestants every year- that their voices are either in the Lata-Shreya-Alka zone or Asha-Sunidhi-Rekha B zone. There's hardly any in like say a Monali or a Chinmayi like voice. Unlike the men who have different range of voices- Like all the guys this year have different voices. Even though Vaibhav and the auto guy sing songs in the same zone but their voices are completely different. Unlike a Mahima-Muskaan-Ananya who have very similar voices and very close to Shreya. I feel that's why the female singers kind of fall back a bit. Even Ranita and Nishtha had similar voices and were pitched against each other.
