I wasn't talking about controversy but how the whole episode left a sour taste & how even if India had won, it would have had a tag that we cheated. For this very reason, I didn't mind any others winning, TBH, I wanted South Africa v New Zealand in finals after this pitch nonsense - so that at least a new team could win WC for the first time, NZ was so unlucky last time.

Many non-subcontinental fans had even declared that if India won, they wouldn't consider it - as we swapped pitches for home advantage & will still consider England to be the reigning champions. What one considers or not is not a point but BCCI gave them a chance to whine & disrespect our players & their hard work, sacrifices.

In 2011, we didn't have any controversies & all the matches happened as organized - no complaints from any section other than ICC of course regarding the Indian govt tax

why can't we have bowlers who can bat a bit too, say like Zaheer & Srinath - none of our bowlers of this lot can bat too - Prasidh, Avesh, Mukesh, Arshdeep, Bishnoi Long tail, if top order fails. Only Dube, Sundar, Axar can bat & at best only 2 will be in the squad.

Actually if you read the reports - the pitch for the finals was changed too, not at the last moment but a week ago. Here's from the report

Others are using the word tempering because they want to show India in bad light. The word used initially in all official news including Pitch curators dissatisfaction which was quoted in that newspaper was changing and same was the word used by Mark Boucher when he was equating BCCI to ICC.

Anyone with knowledge is and will call it pitch change because that's the correct word and what had happened.

Using a different pitch from previously decided one isn't called tampering, tampering of anything is when you alter the pitch's behavior by some act. Tampering word has same meaning whether it's for ball or for pitch.

About pitch, the final was played on pitch 5 only. Yes there were thoughts that pitch 6 might be used but at last they went with pitch 5, which was used only once
