Alia fans, compliment her all you want. Put a pic up of her in your home and pray to her all day too if you want. BUT can you kindly stop mentioning people like Madhuri and Sridevi when you talk about her please ? There’s no comparison.

Both Madhuri and Sridevi, reached superstardom without the backing of nepotism and privilege. THEY truly redefined the narrative.

Would Alia have redefined anything without her nepotistic privilege? Ofcourse not. She wouldn’t even be casted in movies. Same goes for Suhana too. Both of them are unattractive and below average at best. You’re telling me there’s no other girl in India who can act better than these two? Please. Sit down and stop lying to yourself.

What you call “redefining” is simply brainwashing audiences into thinking that it’s okay if someone as basic and average as her can be a top actress.

This is why Alia may have all the projects and awards that one would want but what she doesn’t have - is a respected legacy. And that, she will never attain no matter how hard you try

Alia Bhatt is a superstar going by box office numbers and I don't think she's an average looker either. She is very very cute and can look beautiful with the right styling (Rocky rani, dulhania movies). But I don't think she has redefined anything. Also superstar vibe is not a measurable thing so I don't know what you mean when you say she does not have it. She has had it easy but with similar privileges, very few are able to become big.

There have been multiple female superstars who are not conventionally beautiful or not very glamorous - Asha Parekh (as per my Mom, she wasn't considered a looker but had a great style), Kajol etc.. Even Mumtaz is far cuter than beautiful in the conventional way - and she is one of biggest female leads ever. All these actresses were very popular and very successful.

What way exactly is she leading in your opinion? (certainly not the acting after her pregnancy...)

Regarding the acting work, I think that other actresses did lead a way but not Alia (not yet, at least).

She has 0 blockbusters in her filmography. She has lots of hits and all but she hasn’t been apart of any movie that has done massive box office numbers. So again, redefining what exactly?

Also, both Rocky Rani and Brahmastra are considered failures based on the numbers they should’ve done.

Alia has done successful movies, not successful ones, movies that are always cited because of her performance and those because of the lack of performance...so, to me, it's an absolutely usual way for a well established actress.

But did she really act in a movie "out-of-the-box"? I can only think of one...Darlings.

Darlings belongs to Vijay Varma, this is why his career blew up after it. Alia did nothing that any other actress couldn’t have done in the film

Vijay was in the movie because Alia casted him...she produced the movie (in co-production with RCE, but SRK did it to support Alia in her idea of this movie).

But continue to carress your negative obsessions...each person needs to have a hobby (with or without having/being a hubby).

Ok and ? Doesn’t matter who casted or who invested. It was Vijay’s show all the way. Otherwise why did his career take off after the film? I’m sure that’s not a coincidence.

You've got it all mixed up, but let me clarify it. The topic is mainly about the change and shift that I think Alia Bhatt has brought to the scene. She's not your typical superstar like Deepika, Madhuri, or Sridevi, who exudes/d that superstar aura. She's got a different vibe. She's not your classic beauty, just like Barbra Streisand in the late '60s when she broke into Hollywood with "Funny Girl" and won an Oscar for her debut. Barbra went on to do amazing work and is now considered an iconic actress. So, what I'm saying is, Alia's not your typical superstar, but neither was Barbra in her time. Hollywood's leading ladies used to be all about the "perfect looks", like Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly, until Barbra came along in the '60s.

I'm not calling Barbra Streisand a leading now and there's no reason to do so.

I think you are reaching on all fronts.

I think Alia is cute. But looks are subjective and I do agree that she’s no Aishwarya or Deepika. But going back decades, were Nargis and Vyjayanthimla ever Madhubala or Wahida Rahman? Were Shabana Azmi and Smita Patel ever Zeenat Aman or Parvin Babi? In most recent times was Karishma Kapoor ever a Madhuri? Karishma before eyebrow grooming and hair straightening was basically Raj Kapoor in drag. Yet she became a star. What has Alia done that has brought in a shift compared to any of the above people? And once again, we cannot ignore the fact that she probably would be at the level of a Rhea Chakraborty today if Karan Johar hadn’t taken an interest in her. Like I said in my first post, she is absolutely 100% a product of Karan Johar’s marketing genius.

As for Barbara, her stardom comes from her singing. As an actress winning an Oscar alone doesn’t make you a star. Oscars are not like Bollywood awards where it’s handed to you based on popularity, box office, and influence. If an Oscar made one a star Mira Sorvino and Cuba Gooding Jr would be stars today.

Jaya Bachchan was pregnant with Shweta during Sholay. Sharmila Tagore has shot for movies while pregnant with both Saif and Saba. Aishwarya worked on Heroine while pregnant till the director fired her for being pregnant. Alia isn’t doing anything actresses before her haven’t done. Her own sister in law Kareena was pregnant with Jeh while shooting for LSC.
