Is Alia Bhatt redefining female stardom in bollywood?

This post isn't about making fun of Alia or putting down other actresses, but it's a way to appreciate the shifts she's brought to the Bollywood scene.

In Hollywood, the leading ladies were often these ultra sexy, with those classic Euro-centric features like Joan Crawford, Vivien Leigh, Grace Kelly, and Elizabeth Taylor, until Barbra Streisand came along in the late 1960s. With her unique look and being labeled an "ugly duckling," she still soared to stardom and even won an Oscar for her first film. She paved the way for something different in hollywood.

In Bollywood, Alia faced her fair share of mockery and doubt from Student of The Year. Her features are quite average, and she doesn't exude that traditional superstar aura. Yet, she's become one of the biggest stars, and it seems like she's here to stay for the next 10 or even 15 years, considering how the shelf lives of Bollywood actresses have expanded. She's unlike the previous top actresses who had that unmistakable superstar vibes.

What are your thoughts on this?

Naah...she is far from it

If redefining means....lowering standards, creating false narratives, pushing agendas, stealing work, curating specific roles to hide flaws, living a deluded life and being petty about all of it - then yes...she certainly has redefined "stardom"

The only thing she has redefined is the way nepo kids are perceived. Thanks to her abusing her privileges. Before her nobody really paid attention to this outsider insider thing.
