I think The Half-Blood Prince's copy of the Potions Book is 50 Years old because it had initially belonged to Snape's mother Eileen Prince.I think it is the Potions book that was 50 years old & Not the Half-Blood Prince himself, who is Snape who was the same age as Harry's parents.Voldemort was at Hogwarts as Tom Riddle 50 years before Harry & his freinds & so his diary is also 50 years old. That's the way I understood it.Hope that makes sense.Perhaps some one else can explain it better & correct me too,if I'm wrong? 😳

HPCRAZY- yes you r right

the poion book was 50 years old. that means it was already an old book when Snape got it. may be he inherited from his mother or something. i am assuming this because he did not have a great father ( i am refering to Snape's memory flashes)

Voldy was in Hogwarts 50 years before Harry. so that diary was 50 years old. actualy if u calculate correctly its some year older than the potion book 😆

when Voldemort was in Hogwarts 50 years ago he was known as Tom Marvolo Riddle. not as Voldemort. he renamed himself as Voldemort after he left Hogwarts. and Harry did not know that Tom was Voldy. he was wondering why was Tom talking about Voldy when he was 'before' Voldy's time.

is that clear now?
