This was my choice too. I love Hemantda's voice for Dev but when this song plays, it erases every other song clean out of my mind! Lyrics, music, singing all top notch!Originally posted by: Viswasruti
All songs are wonderful. But I like this most--
Ye raat ye chandni / Hemant Kumar (Jaal)

Na tum hume jano is a gorgeous song!
his singing style almost remains the same from song to song..i mean lil variation...not to say he was not good 👍

you guys keep saying 'sheep' but I don't recall either of you playing my game
Maine jab khela tha wo neha didi ne shepherd banke prerit kiya tha ek makdi 🕷️ ko sheep banne mein 🐑
Well Hemantda’s voice quality was such that few people could match up. So rich and clear! And even if his range was limited I don’t necessary agree that he had little variation. Listen to Zindagi ke dene wale, Tere dwar khada, or Beqaraar karke. So different and he manages to create that mood for every song. That’s the beauty of the Golden Era. We had so many fabulous singers and each had their own niche.Originally posted by: Spideyweb

Your last line justifies my comment.. They are different in terms of composition and lyrics not in singing..just my opinion.....not to say he didn't excel at what he did..But definitely he had a fixed zone and he operated within that ..
Agree to disagree. For me, the Golden era singers are unmatched. They operated under so many constraints without so much of the technology and ease that is afforded to singers these days.Originally posted by: Spideyweb

Hai Apna Dil Toh Aawara is the song that played a huge part in making me a Dev Anand fan. Another aawara dil here. 🤩
Na tum humein jaano is hauntingly beautiful.

Thats the exact point i cant enough of reiterating..Those singers were truly blessed n can outshine contemporary singers despite an abysmal devoid of technological advancements ..
Consensus has been successfully built
Regarding versatility part, we can agree to disagree 👍
I wondered where's Yaad Kiya Dil Ne Kahan Ho Tum until I saw the poll deals with solos.
