It's like BI wrote...it depends on the audience and as I am audience, it depends on me if I get invested in the movie be it a Shindler's List or a Andhadhun or a Footloose. I want that the time I spend with a movie is like quality time for me...and a plus is when a movie 'gets to me'...if it stays in my 'system' for a while, if I want to rewatch it to get back in this movie's world.

Phrases like 'quality'better than quantity' have no meaning to me when it comes to movies or books...I want to be caught, be it a John Grisham legal thriller or the White Tiger or one of the Artemis Fowl books.

That's why audience isn't really predictable...because what floated people's boats yesterday may make the people stay on the beach today and not even make them go outside the house tomorrow.

A film industry should strive on variety...like does the book industry

First there had been narrations, then there had been plays, then both had been scripted - for entertainment and learning (because both can go hand in hand), then stories got told in pictures (comics, flip-books, photos, films) and heard again (audio books and radio/audio plays)...for entertainment and learning...we have a big choice of choosing with what we "resonate" at a specific part of our lives.

Citizen Kane was a snoozefest in all honesty. I could barely sit through 20 minutes without falling asleep. Even Parasite didn't evoke much emotion within me.

Also, how do you define 'experimental', Minty?

The best example of experimental acc. to me is anything that pushes the envelope. Some of Aamir's films do that.

I loved Parasite too.

Problem is that they don’t work at BO. Remember even SRK at his peak couldn’t save Swades.

Maybe today, if it's shorter it'd work.

We don't want extra lengthy films with actor and actresses just looking into nothingness.

Yaar look alive, say your friggin lines show some emotion.

Save that elitist acting for the streaming sites and festivals.

I think lootera also flopped cos of that. Too many shots of just nature and stuff.

I think it's the best love story in Hindi in this decade but regular layman audience couldn't connect cos it was too bland.
