Bollywood needs to make more quality cinema

Quality cinema as in films that are critically acclaimed for their artistic merit, storytelling, cinematography, acting, and thematic depth. These kind of films are often praised for pushing the boundaries of filmmaking and providing thought-provoking experiences for the audience. Examples of quality cinema might include classic films like "Citizen Kane," "The Godfather," or "Schindler's List," as well as contemporary works like "Parasite" and "Oppenheimer".

Movies like these CAN be made in Bollywood, if they only push the envelope. Bollywood has a rich history of filmmaking and has produced some exceptional films over the years.

But of late it seems masala films are back with a bang and by masala I mean meaningless content with mega stars. Honestly, Aamir Khan is the only one among the Khans who has tried to stay true to experimental cinema.

Do you think the Bollywood audience is ready for quality content?

‘Meaningless masala’ movies are just 4 or 5 in 2023, the rest were content based movies. How many of them did you watch in the theaters? For example, did you watch Ghoomar?

Your quality differs from what the audience feels is quality...

If my hard earned money goes towards watching a movie....it has to entertain me...if I am not entertained then quality gaya tel lene....For me quality movie is one which entertained me.....

Also I had to watch Schindlers List for school. I could hardly finish it. That was when I was 16 now im 32. I doubt I can make it thru 30 minutes now. So For me it no quality

Sorry but that movie is for the film festivals. I mean I could smell the burning corpses from the screen and I still can see the haze created by the smoke that was emitted from those burning corpses. It was a traumatic experience to say the least. While that is supposedly the idea of such a movie, why would anyone want to pay to watch such a thing when their real lives are no less tragic and unhappy?

OT: Quality is whatever people resonate with. I have loved Udaan and Lootera for life but I also get my kicks from watching Dreamgirl 1 and 2. So whatever floats people’s boats.
