India win by five wickets with eight balls to spare. A comfortable win for the home side. Australia were always short on runs posting 276 after a very good India bowling display led by Mohammed Shami's five wickets. The chase was set up by a superb stand from Gill and Gaikwad at the top. Zampa made things interesting with two quick wickets and had he held two return catches, one off Rahul, it might have been even more interesting. But Rahul and SKY guided India home with calm half-centuries.

Good luck being Rahul Dravid at this point. Today, the team’s reserve batter has scored a fifty, while the auxiliary pacer has picked up a fifer. When Rohit, Hardik and Kohli are away, the others come out to play…So how do you pick your best XI for the World Cup opener? Well, thankfully, the Indian management has two more ODIs to test out these boys, while Australia will hope for better next game as they sweat over the fitness of some of their regulars

Nice to see that Shami did a great job. Ritu was also good and supported Gill well. Was hoping to see a good game from Shreyas but that run out was the worst case situation as there was no need for that.SKY played well

Its going to be tough to pick a good 11 squad each game as there are good players and sometimes the reserves play some games so well that you cannot forget about them. So its just getting the right team for the right game will be a tough call. Lets hope we get more clarity with the other 2 games to see if the reserves are emerging strong
