I don't think they have changed the core plot of Vanshaj yet. They started the show with a pre planned idea regarding Prem's scandal and as of now they are sticking to it. Vidur isn't their sudden decision, Kartik's betrayal is not their sudden decision. Everything is pre planned yes due to TRP drop they just rushed with Kartik track wrapping Phoenix.

I'm telling y'all it's Neil whom DB wants to be the next Vanshaj but his refusal has made him heartbroken. So he's unable to digest the fact that Neil actually came to Mahajans house for Yuvika and not him
