A month later.

"Mom, you were right." Fiza hugs Nushrat. "Afshan wasn't worth my time."

"We all learn from our mistakes. But be careful who you trust." Nushrat kissed her forehead. "Come on, let's go shopping."

"Sure, you're the best mom!"

"And you are the best daughter." Nusrat said proudly.

"Darshan, where are you? I am getting late."

"Here darlin', just made some soup."

"Okay," Ishaan quickly had the soup. "I'll leave now, my therapist will be waiting."

"You did your homework?

"Little bit-" Ishaan bit his lip.

"Cool"

"Mom called."

"And?"

"She suggested going for some counselling together."

"That's a good idea, I hope someday my parents also come along." Ishaan pecked his cheek before leaving.

Ravi looked at Ishaan. "What have you decided? Would you continue with the department now?"

"No, I am done with the department. I'd like to do something of my own." Ishaan forwarded his resignation.

"Joining your detective friend?"

"Maybe that or something else." He shrugged.

"Take care of yourself and don't forget, I believe in you." Ravi patted his back.

"Thank you sir, have a good day." Ishaan saluted him for the last time.

"Aarav! This is your first and last chance. Do not mess this up or I will kick you out of the house and give no share in the property." Manohar said.

"Dad, I am your only heir and I know you well enough. But don't you worry, I have learnt my lesson and I will be more careful. Is Mr P A coming back to work?"

"No, he has resigned. New person is joining us today."

"I hope he has a cute face." Manohar looked at him with suspicion.

"So, what have you decided?" Darshan asked as they lay on the bed.

"I am yet to decide but my therapist has given me a whole lotta homework and I think by the end of next week I will have it decided."

"Take your time, there is no hurry."

"I know." Ishaan held his hand. "By the way, what do you think of getting married?"

"I haven't thought about it yet but I'd love to spend my lifetime with you, with or without marriage." Darshan cupped his face and pecked it.

"You are one cheesy mother f*k*r." Ishaan slapped his arm.

"Nope, I don't do mothers." Both burst out laughing.

I really enjoyed writing this segue! I tried to give some give some closure and open ending to most of the characters we had in the story. Hope you liked it (◍•ᴗ•◍)✧*。
