Belaum, May 20: The Karnataka BJP on Tuesday filed a complaint with the Election Commissioner alleging that the local police had misbehaved with their party worker and television actor, Smriti Irani.
The Tilakwadi police of Belgaum city had misbehaved with Smriti, who plays a leading role in the television soap opera, 'saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', last night, the BJP said in a release on Tuesday.
The actress, who was on her way to Goa after attending a road show in Belgaum, was stopped midway and was subjected to a check in the absence of any women personnel.
She was later asked to come to the police station, where she was asked to wait for a long time before she was permitted to leave the place.
