Finished Ghatak 😈 OMG blown! So powerful, so tragic, so brutal..I loved how Amrish-Sunny combo was effectively used in this movie in a different equation❤️ Danny is a freaking beast and I was scared everytime he appeared on screen..those were the days..for a super hero..you had a super villain too..Danny Danzongpa, Amrish Puri, Raza Murad and even Anupam Kher..they used to terrorize me in the sleep because of their eery performances as villains 😆

For me the best part of Ghatak is the father-son scenes. Poignant and heartwarming!

The analysts are scared of the backlash from the Akshay fans but it was clear from the time of movie announcement itself that they were shamelessly trying to piggyback on G2.

That's what all the trade portals were saying. I guess Akshay Kumar has taken a hefty fee, because ofcourse it doesn't look like a 150 cr film. But on second thought, you're most likely right....because Akshay Kumar is a co-producer so he probably hasn't charged fees.

Those 30 minutes are as good as the interval period and chopping it entirely wouldn't affect the main plot. Girl is pretty but made no impact. Also, what a massive downgrade from Tara-Sakina! Those two have still got the chemistry.

He has no future as a solo hero. And I doubt Sunny will entertain him anymore.

The forceful manner in which they lumped that girl’s hands into Tara’s asking him to make her into his bahu. Lol. Which parents will do that? It was just to give that mass appeal to Jeete and elevate him. All that track was just so unnecessary and boring. It was all a blur to me because I just didn’t care to know anything about that girl nor her family.

I am so glad you watched it. And my review is ditto. I was blown away by the acting, the content and how the movie is still relevant after nearly 30 years. But you won’t find this timeless classic being mentioned in any of the lists. Even the most frivolous movies like Raja Hindustani and Dil to pagal hai make to these so called lists but none of Sunny’s movies. And then we take dig at him that he is not relevant anymore. I was just lucky to find him accidentally thanks to Haila_tu, atominis,panganale who spoke highly of Sunny in a Gadar related thread a couple of months back.

If I had been in India now I'm sure I would have gone to the Gayatri in Bandra to watch it - not for the movie but for the experience...
