I'd have cast Kareena from K3G as Veronica rather than Suhana. Poo has that snob factor in spades. Lookswise Veronica is supposed to be posh and Betty more like the girl-next door. Maybe Suhana will get the attitude correct? All the newbie actresses seem to worship Kareena's Poo anyway.

And yes, the characters are from an Anglo-Indian town. So no Meera/Pooja/Priya. I miss those 90s names.

I’ve been calling this movie a mess since the start

Kareena is too old. All these archies characters are in their teenage years - high school. Besides, Kareena would overact way too much.

The characters are supposed to be Anglo Indian. So I suppose they can get away with it. Though the names sound American rather than British. Also the international audience which Netflix hopes to attract will only be familiar with the original character names.

I’d be surprised if enough Indians agree to watch this, let alone the international audience😆as if there isn’t enough Riverdale fatigue in audiences as is.

Lol, Zoya has always looked down on desi movies with all the bells and whistles of a typical Indian movie. I think she has always wanted to make a movie like this… very white washed where the characters are more Hollywood, and they speak in hinglish. 😂

I wouldn’t have gone with Zoya if I was Suhanas papa, but what do I know! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

The title of the movie is The Archies, that's why English names. They believe in Jesus.

Anything is possible in fiction.

Zoya has said the show is set in the Anglo-Indian community in India of the 1960s. So the original comics' names were kept, and actually fit that time-period. Just as in Aparna Sen's film 36 Chowringhee Lane, the main character is an Anglo-Indian teacher called Violet Stoneham.
