Sara and Shraddha were bashed for those photo shoots like no tomorrow.

And accused of racism.

Should we also start accusing every white girl that decides to wear a lengha of racism and cultural appropriation? I mock purely for poor taste in lenghas, not their decision to wear one lol gosh, I can’t keep up with the woke crowd. They cancel someone new every day.

You have a point.

It is also about business. Sush is more popular and famous than any actual trans actor in subcontinent.

Her name brings better business, more attention and eyeballs.

It reminds me of debate many Sikhs and NE people have about BW taking others to play Sikh or person from NE and not giving chances to actual sardar actors or actors from NE.

The need for actual and genuine representation is real.

But it is problematic if one does not play a genuine LGBTQI character per se but just dresses a certain way or does certain acts to appear gender fluid, increase fanbase, or appear woke and use it as image building exercise. I mean it makes for perfect business and PR but from POV of sexual minorities, it is selfish, using their aesthetic, taking up their space.

RS is basically a fence sitter and so is Sush. Never seen them speak for LGBTQIA people or do legit roles without stereotyping these communities. In contrast Manoj Bajpai has done a more genuine role in Aligarh as a gay professor without trying hard to look like he is bending norms. Rajkumar Rao has also been more genuine and actually did Badhai Do, Aligarh type films lending credence to sexual minorities without being superficial in his own dress or antics.

But Ranveer isn't even cross dressing - he's just colorful and flamboyant and he loves his crazy clothes. Let him be. It's been kind of sad seeing him dress so straight laced lately (even though he looks great) - like a peacock plucked of his feathers.

@bold Exactly 💔 It's so sad that he's being given derogatory names and labels for simply being someone who loves wearing colorful, quirky stuff. It's as if he's obliged to wear plain black/blue stuff only to please everyone's image of how the ideal guy should look like. As if guys can't wear what they want. And then we complain about how guys are repressed by society.

Love Ranveer and all the energy he spends to make people feel good all the time ❤️

I just hope he doesn't end up with a wardrobe malfunction one day.

I dunno whether he is actually authentic or flamboyant or both.

Some of his outfits already look like a malfunction by choice and he has already shown us all of himself on that one carpet. What more can possibly happen? 😆

Rightttt. So what is a “genuine LGBTQI character”? Do you mean the stereotypical version in your head? And in what freakin’ world is playing a LGBT character in Indian cinema a way to increase fan base? Have you not heard the slurs effeminate men have to deal with? From tu ladki hai kya to chakka. How many men do you know secure enough in themselves to do such roles in a still very judgemental society? We still discuss (at length) shotgun weddings where the woman is pregnant at her wedding, we have a long long way to go my friend.
Also why this need of yourself and others for these guys to be public in the work that they do? Maybe they donate lakhs to LGBT charities. Should they post screenshots of their donation for your satisfaction?
