The Korean market is small, so the Korean entertainment industry used to heavily depend on China. When the Chinese government banned Korean content around 2017ish, they started looking for international markets. A lot of the content, music, film or tv is now being made with a global audience in mind. The Indian entertainment industry simply does not have any need for looking outside the country. It's a lot like China in that regard. Chinese blockbusters make billions of dollars, but they are barely seen by audiences outside China.

The Korean government played a huge part in promoting Korean content outside for political reasons. While the Indian government is perpetually at odds with the Indian entertainment industry. Add to that, Indian entertainment industry is fragmented by languages, I am not even sure what content will get pushed, because of that additional layer of politics.

I do agree. Desi nem have no looks. In 100 plus years of Indian cinema we have had only HR, Vinod and young Dharam and Salman as eligible to be called handsome.

Just 4 or 5 men in over a century.

I do not see any desi man having world go crazy over him and kiss his posters to death and trend his name like crazy.

Or look so good that others want to know how to get skin like him or complexion and hair like him.

Asian men, including Korean men, were not particularly popular with a western audience or Indian audience, just half a decade ago. They have gone ahead and pretty much remolded the global beauty standards to their own beauty standards. 10 years ago, the average person couldn't tell you a Korean apart from any other East Asian.

Even now can an average person differentiate between an average Korean or Chinese or Japanese

I suppose depends on gender and age. Younger people and/or women are more likely to be able to. But at the rate their industries are exploding, maybe in another 5 years, most people could.

The point I was trying to make was that 10 years ago, most people were ignorant about Korea as a whole, and today it's everywhere.

That's true

A Korean YouTuber who grew up in Bihar, said suddenly people on the streets wanted to take pics with him. He thought maybe his YouTube channel has become popular but no, it was cz of BTS. Before that when he said he's from Korea they used to ask you mean China? 😆

I think SRK is very handsome and many would agree to that. I do find him way more attractive then the rest.

I remember when I watched Paheli it was full house in Germany.

Wow. The casual racism in this post.

I am not sure how big is that effect cos in the West, East Asian women marry the most outside their race and asian men the least . I see more fugly Indian men with white women than Asian men.
