Tipping culture in the US is by far the worst i’ve seen. The issue isn’t the tipping, a lot of countries add a service charge of sorts, the issue is the expectation. You almost have to tip because these shitty huge corporates refuse to pay their staff a living wage. And to see tipping start at a minimum of 20% is insane. I haven’t seen it that high anywhere. Nothing to do with politics, pay those people a fair wage so they don’t have to rely on customers to top up their wage. There are a couple of places where I live that are no tipping places. They claim to pay living wages, and so far, I haven't seen workers complain. One is a coffee shop that has been around for a while.
