Okay. I cried again. Before work. God I am obsessed!

Coming to your chapter now. Fabulous update. I don't know how you manage to surprise us even when our guesses are on point. We guessed it would be La and Manali but now La panicked for real after the photos and Arnav suspects Manali had personally meddled in it. I hope he speaks more of it later on.

I will speak about both your characters in detail now. I don't think I have dived into what really makes them compelling for me.

I will come to Khushi first.

Can i say she is an absolute angel. First of all, there has to be a reason she is so attuned to Arnav's needs and doesn't pester him for anything. Any wife, after a certain point of time will not like that work is absorbing so much time of her husband. I know Arnav was working on starting two companies from scratch, but he himself admits to it in this chapter. Her being in the background mattered a lot. She was always his home. Where he could come back to leaving worries of the world at the doorstep.

It cannot be a coincidence. Khushi had made herself this way. Everyone who knows her, including Arnav's mother, knows that she BREATHES for her Arnav. We got a glimpse of it in the flashback early chapters. She is so concerned that he is always thinking of others that she wants to be the one who gives to him instead of demanding. We all know Arnav had some major troubles in the past and there must be a reason why he thinks Khushi is his anchor.

There are so many little snippets that show the depth of Khushi's love for Arnav, but I will take the one from her memory lane. She understands on some level that talking about kids upsets Arnav to a great degree. She is ELATED that now even his family wont pressure him for kids because she has stopped speaking about it since almost a year. She is concerned that he might feel alone. She thinks she wants nothing more than this wonderful man in her life. Her own worries forgotten behind in front of his struggles.

But she has also been hurting since a year. And pictures of such acts, placed in such a cunning order to make her feel like this was an ongoing thing must have felt like an answer. Remember? She has no answer for Arnav's behavior because he refuses to talk. This must have felt like a blow that this could be the reason he had been avoiding her for the whole year!

Arnav has felt protected around her. You-Know-Who has right. She is one thing in his life that has been untouched by negativity. Khushi's turning his first home into a livable space was symbolism. She had turned his life around, made it livable when he struggled with his demons. Her being submissive in this relationship was by choice becayse she herself says so - ARNAV HAD NEVER SAID NO TO HER!

god knows she didn't deserve what happened to her.

And Arnav! What a mightily complex creature. I feel so conflicted with him.

First of all. He IS a righteous man. No doubt about it. He had a full-blown panic attack at the thought of Lavanaya being pregnant and not once does he ask her to abort it. He feels like he has no sympathy for her and yet forces it out of himself because two women close to him have had tough pregnancies. He is ready to step up and give his name but just does not want an emotional connect with the kid. He specifically says that it's a good thing Lavanya doesn't move around in circle where being a single mom would land her in a world of trouble. But he still cautioned her to think thoroughly. he is the kind of a guy who would have married Lavanya if he was single and Lavanya was a gaon ki chhori.

He did not reveal Lavanya's name to his lawyers at first thinking of her reputation and in case the child was a false alarm.

if a man who would do so much for a stranger, pulling away from his wife who he misses terribly, then there has to be a reason. Period. he thinks he cannot tell Khushi why he hates his hometown so much so maybe he is trying to protect jis family including his parents and Khushi from something. We dont know how he got so rich suddenly. He was a struggling engineer in 2006 and he was producing a movie in 2009. I guess his software took off, but we will have to wait and see.

his first move was to safeguard Khushi's financial interest even though he was raging in panic at the thought of being a father. it makes sense. He is not a random guy. His money is always a target. There really is a lot of wealth at stake and as someone who came from a struggling background, he understands why it is important. He is so concerned and thorough that he wants to have an ironclad will because "he will not be able to help his family from the other side'. So that is why he had lawyers. I guess you left a very big hint when Khushi asked him if he had a lawyer already and he responded with "Yes Khushi but I needed to..." He was cut off in the first chapter. He completed now.

I know there has to be a reason he doesn't want to talk about children at all.

besides, he really is not a vile human being. He did not even care what Lavanya and Manli did to him. He was just so tired of it all that he let it go. Thinking he can close this chapter by ignoring it. That is why Manali B'tch must be confident that Arnav would give in to blackmail.

What she didn't take into account was that Arnav was ready to let go of all the wrongs done to him but so much as threaten his Khushi and he will hurt you where it stings the most. He neither held back his words, nor his actions. In his weird, twisted way, he does love Khushi. He just has a lot of communication problems and obvious demons in his past.

The last thing I want to point out in your story is the reality aspect of it. It is so easy for us to lose ourselves in the world of fiction and think Arnav should just go on a rampage to destroy La and Manali when they deceived him but stop and think for a moment. These were complete strangers who really tried to hurt him and his life. He has made his life with his blood sweat and tears and anyone will obviously be shaken at the realization that there are people out there who could hurt him like this. even the hero of a novel.

I am glad you showed that. More manly characters with this kind of vulnerability. He is obviously a very strong and formidable character and yet he felt unsafe. I think somewhere in his consciousness, he understands that he was taken advantage of and thus he feels UNSAFE. he cried out for Khushi while he wanted to be the one to give up the armor and her to be the knight. Which she had always been.

In awe of this story di. In awe of both the characters. I feel so much for them it hurts.

And the song you chose. Never thought i would be crying my eyes out listening to "demons' but here i am. I lost it at these two lines.

Don't wanna let you down

But I am hell-bound

Though this is all for you

Don't wanna hide the truth

and where he feels he cannot get out of this without khushi

They say it's what you make

I say it's up to fate

It's woven in my soul

I need to let you go

Your eyes, they shine so bright

I wanna save that light

I can't escape this now

Unless you show me how

pff...done. for now!

Wow, if ever there was a demonstration of Murphy's Law!

Well here are the answers aren't they? Why Lavanya knows about the divorce? How and why lawyers got involved before he talked to Khushi? I was not wrong to assume good intent. It's ironical and equally heartbreaking that everything he did to save Khushi actually hurt her further!

He contacted lawyers so his supposed, inexistent illegitimate child could never take away Khushi's money. He even wanted to protect Khushi's future children/kin if any from his own child/illegitimate be that it may! And this guy says he does not love Khushi! I wonder what love means in his dictionary!

This has made me realize one thing for sure, that if you say it enough, you can make yourself believe just about anything! Perhaps even that earth is flat! I have some newfound sympathy for flat-earthers!

Some questions that I still have that are not clear to me are:

1. He gets to know Lavanya's pregnancy was a hoax in January, and yet he says in February 2016:

Originally posted by: VeiledWords

He had no idea how he survived the stress of last couple of months. He had lost Khushi, was sure that he had ruined his own and another woman’s life in process and had his entire life and reputation in jeopardy. There had been a constant throbbing in his head. He couldn’t sleep. And when he gave in to medication, he woke up in cold sweat.

I am assuming the another woman is Lavanya? Why does he have any sympathy for left for her?

2. Why does he not want to go after them immediately on knowing how much of mental harassment Lavanya and Manali put him through? Does he not want to acknowledge that he got taken advantage of? I am not sure, but his reaction or lack there of when Aman tells him that Panchgani might have been planned was a bit unsettling. Any normal person would have immediately felt betrayed!

His conversation with Akash (the complete one after he tells Khushi about the divorce), is actually the one thats most telling. Even Akash seems to know he still loves her! And that Khushi would understand. I guess each person here knows and on some level expected that Khushi would have understood. Then. I am not sure if she would understand now.

Once again, timing is the bitch!

I read this as a third person and frown at all the choices he made knowing he was falling into the pit, because as a reader we know the hindsight. And hindsight is 20/20. But I wonder if I would have made any different choices if I were in his place. My heart is actually breaking for both of these protagonists, who despite their best intentions for each other have landed themselves in a world of hurt! Who have hurt each other in the worst ways!

Truly heartbreaking chapter: parts of it were truly difficult to read and evoked the most potent emotions in me: the ones where he realizes that Khushi was enmeshed in the fabric of his life even when he thought she had moved away! Oh how he would have felt to have been so wrong! Arpita, your pen is mighty and I cannot imagine the mammoth effort that went behind the last chapter!

P.S. I really hope you have recovered from your bout of flu now!

Arpita,

I am so overwhelmed and cried so bad... I was right all along...

I doubted myself when I was alone bashing him or so harsh but it turns out I was right unfortunately...

I want to suck it in all and then write my response properly...

Hey You-Know-Who. Missed your lovely words! I mentioned you in my comment. And i think in last paragraph i answered your second question.

I can answer the first one too. The first one is the incident right after Payal told him Khushi could be gettig married. Back then we saw him crying from that mechanic's eyes. Here we know what went through his head.

He does not have any sympathy left for Lavanya. IMO He is just reminiscing how much trauma he had gone through in last couple of months. That he went through the guilt of ruining a woman's life while it was a two-faced lie. That b*tch.

to your second question, it's also answered in the same paragraph isn't it. This man has been fighting for too long and is just tired and almost afraid now. No wonder he did not want to take up anther fight/war when his life is already in ruins.

At least what i think.

Suddenly i feel as exhausted as Arnav...though many of the scenes we have already encountered as u mentioned they gave more clarity now that we know the background or where things stand

I read the chapter very quickly so i need to sit down, think and respond but 1 thing i would like to say

'yeyyyyy see its Aman who pointed Arnav to the fraud'. i know he is there for a reason. Also though akash and aman both pointed out the possibility that he was set up, he has dismissed that thought because he was guilty and wholly believe it was his fault.

but once he knows khushi received those photos, he will hopefully put 2 and 2 together. he had bit of suspicion and surprise on why lavanya was so clingy at the party but he still doesnt know the depth of her obsession.

Manali Gujral and lavanya kashyap..what an obsession. La's with Arnav and Manali's with lavanya. so those other photos also had valid explanation as i kept mentioning earlier. and only lavanya and manali knew they will be meeting at that spot. so they set this thing up. i have no enough galies to give this duo. To fake a pregnancy..B**ches

God i feel like dancing..all my guesses about atleast the lavanya saga are coming true

I will come back to Arnav 'The husband' later on after i digest the chapter

Hi!

Yes, I did read your comment and I agree to your analysis of both Khushi and Arnav!

Khushi, even though we havent read a lot of her thoughts in first person, but from what we have read of her from Arnav's point of view comes across as someone who is completely devoted to him and without breaking a sweat too. Effortlessly, flawlessly. Like that is the only possible way to love! Her love is almost a prayer, and it does not need Arnav's validation. It can bring anyone down to their knees, Arnav is just human. And I think on some level her utter devotion is also the reason of Arnav's massive guilt of saying no to her! The guilt that ultimately fueled the distance and the divorce. When someone loves you with their all, and you cannot give them their heart's one true wish, I don't find it hard to believe that that kind of guilt can ruin them and lead them to bad choices. This almost makes me cynical: Too much of anything is not good, not even love. And devotion perhaps should be reserved to God, and not to human beings!

And yes, thank you for answering my questions. I agree with your first answer, I guess I was so mad at Lavanya that I couldn't swallow sympathy for her even as a thought!

But the second one, I am not too sure. Yes, he is tired, jaded, but in my opinion, his lack of reaction when Aman told him that Panchgani was orchestrated, was very telling. I am now inclined to believe that he has felt unsafe even in the past. That somehow his lack of reaction on being betrayed/violated has a past demon attached to it! God, does this man need therapy!

What i dont have clarity yet is whether he directly confronted Manali and Lavanya about the lie. there is no mention of that in the chapter right?

No so far there isn’t such a mention. It does not look like he confronted them. Because if he had, Manali would not have the gall to come to his office and threaten to leak the divorce news to Khushi!

No he did not. He infact told Aman that he does not want to do anything about them and just wants to be left alone.

Arnav's guess was money and attraction. I don't think he understands the depth of la's obsession.

On the contrary, I think he does understand that. Even though his thinking is not clear, but he clearly noticed her clingy behavior and her desperation. He also noticed how desperate she was about the photos vs her pregnancy news which leads me to believe that Lavanya doesn’t have anything to do with the photos but Manali does!
